5.5gen e-bay fogs

I'm in need of a new set of fogs and was curious if anyone is using e-bay fogs and what seller did you get them from?. I remember seeing a thread about them but wasn't able to find it.

How do the aftermarket fogs compare to the oem fogs, as in light output and such

Output is a bit better, has a wider range.

Maddman, the 5.0 gen and 5.5 gen lenses are not interchangeable.

OP, I replaced my 5.5 gen OEM lenses last year through ebay. They are virtually identical to OEM, branded by a company called DEPO. The glass has "DEPO" embossed on it, as opposed to "NISSAN" with the OEM lenses. Get down and look at your fogs, and you'll see what I mean.

One bit of advice, however: if you're able, buy them in pairs. The reason being, they don't all use the same sealant to adhere the glass to the black plastic housing. On some it's white, and on others it's clear.

The effective difference is a translucent "white" ring around the edges of the lens, vs. a translucent "black" ring around the edges of the lens (because the adhesive is clear). It's very subtle, but when you get two that are different, you will always see the difference, and it will drive you nuts.

Drove me nuts for about 2 weeks, then I RMA'd the last one back to the seller who made sure to replace it with a matching lens.

That's one man's opinion. Kind of over-the-top, don't you think?

I've had my DEPO lenses for about a year now, bought from an eBay retailer, and they're just fine. Then again, I don't tailgate, and I live in the Northeast, which uses far less granite in our roads than the Midwest does.

I've had good experiences with the "DEPO" branded eBay fogs. I've had them on my 5.5 for over three years (and counting) and installed a pair on my 7th gen about six months ago. IMO light output is the same---if not slightly better (especially on the 7th gen). However, I think Rochester makes a good point above: user experiences will probably vary based on their location and the condition of the roads.

Is it a better idea just to go with expensive bulbs instead of the entire essembly?

I am curious to see if the OP was ever able to purchase and install these. I need to replace mine as well (both cracked)...plus, I've had my HID foglight kit sitting in my room for 6 months lol.

One of my buddies told me installing those HID kits in these fog lights is a pain in the butt. I just think there is a good chance I'll screw something up and not have any fog lights!

I only speak from experience...I installed an Oem kit on my car 3 months after I bought my 03 Maxima brand spanking new....I also installed the protective film and haven't had a problem in 7 yrs....I also upgraded my fogs and heads to 8000K HID.....My buddy on the otherhand installed those eBay fogs and lamin-x film and still cracked the lense due to the thinner glass used on the eBay brands....

Aftermarket fog lamps are typically inferior to OEM. It's been my experience that aftermarket glass fogs cracked much quicker than OEM.

On my 5.5 Gen, I bought a fog lamp kit from Dave B. $172, two fog lamps, headlamp stalk, and relays. This is what the kit came with. OEM new list price on one fog lamp lens (only) is $180, before any Dave B discount.

I put 3M on my new set, so far holding up like a champ.

In this case, go OEM.

I saw some of the ebay ones that claimed JDM nissan that had the yellow lens on them. i was tempted to buy them but wanted to wait, i have a passengers side lens that is cracked and want to do laminx yellow on those lense anyways.

Has anyone had these? i may just get a whole new pass side from the dealer anyway.

As mentioned above, won't it be better to so with expensive bulbs instead of the entire assembly?
