Factory Bose Subwoofer Replacement Question

I searched but couldn't find anything specific.

Could the people that have replaced the factory bose sub with an 8" aftermarket one (in the stock location) let me know which sub/amp combo they choose and if there was much sound improvement.

I know that putting sound damping on the rear deck around the sub will help and I'm planning on doing that. I also understand that I will not be able to get the same amount of bass from a free air sub as a closed one but I'm not looking for much, just something better than stock.

Thanks

Just realized I should have posted this in the audio forum. Will do that now.

I just left the stock sub in position and functioning and added an Infinity Basslink in the trunk. It's nothing huge and not extremely powerful, but adds just the right amount of bass for my taste. Doesn't take up very much room in the trunk either. The basslink has an amp built right into it, so it's an easy, fairly inexpensive all-in-one option. I wasn't happy with how weak the stock setup was in the bass department, but this has corrected it. I actually like my Bose system now...
