bulb help
(2002 max SE)
I am trying to find what type of bulb I need for the map light.
Yes, I have tried to search but all I come up w/ is led replacements.
I just want the stock bulb.
Also, where can I get it, dealer only?
Its not on this site either. http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProd...otiveLighting/

For some reason the bulb isn't listed, wasn't listed in the Autozone database either.
May be, or may not be a dumb question...but have you tried removing the bulb and either reading the markings or simply matching it to a similar looking bulb?

Nissan uses a special bulb that is much brighter than any standard replacement bulb. Like KilJim says, it is a 10 watt bulb while all the standard replacements are (I think) 6 watts. Nissan has been using this bulb for years, I went through this with my 3rd gen. I finally admitted defeat and went to the dealer and got some. Of course the price was higher than a parts store but it really wasn't outrageous.

Update:
I just came back from Walmart, bought a pair of GE Standard 1895/BP2 bulbs which looked to be the same shape and voltage
They work just fine, not sure if they're less bright or not, but they cost under $2 for the pair

This. It's a standard BA9S socket. Note, if you replace it with a LED, you're going to have to swap the polarity; (i.e., snip & swap the wires.)
I'm using this little guy here. Much brighter, white light, but not at all distracting. Very happy with it.
