Goodsh1t, hustle. It will not be easy, but it will be worth it. I have been piecing together all of my parts for my swap over the last 6 months, and it really is a pita to find everything without paying top dollar. I still have no idea where to get 6spd axles or the tranny mount...

I'm sure you have prob. read these already, but just in case you haven't:
http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...you-shift.html
http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...ne-4-days.html
http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...care-only.html

Btw Ohhh Noesss, did harjit and TJ do your swap? I know they did a 6th gen 6spd swap not too long ago.... I've been talking to maximum tunning, but I would rather have someone who is more familiar with our cars...

You can always opt to get the fidanza flywheel instead of the dual-mas OEM unit which is like 30 pounds.

If I were you, I would look for as many parts possible from a manual car. There are more differences between the auto and manual 5.5 gen cars then on a 4th gen or a 5th gen.

ok...ill look for some of that stuff. i also need a new cable and the like. ill see if i can find some cool HLSD pedals for you

i talked to dave b a while back and he seems to think the 350z clutch is the way to go. only problem he has heard off is a slight clearance issue...im talking like .0000001mm, but enough to where some one did the swap and on first start heard a loud bang and though they threw the tranny.

give him a call and ask him all the details. might be cheaper to go that route and he can tell you more detail about the clearance issue

but if a 6spd swap is a must, if this hasnt been mentioned look into SpecV trans. they are the exact same except the bell housings. u can buy a bellhousing brand new off of Courtesy for $230, and a SpecV tranny out of a wrecked car is like $300-400. and ALL specVs have HLSDs.

I will warn u thou swapping bellhousings isnt as easy as 1-2-3, u got be careful of those small little parts in the trans make sure they are all where they are suppose to be.

I was looking at doing a 6spd when my VLSD went the way of the dinosaurs.

There is no OD light in A33B's. Only a tranny check light, bottom right of the cluster.

The At has P,R,N,1,2,3,4 I believe n between the Tach and speedo, and light a green light to w/e gear it's in. That would obviously not be there anymore, or wont be lit.

On the right side of the pic.

just out of curiosity, how many people have done the 6spd swap successfully? and props to you hustle, i would never keep a car if i had to put more than 1 tranny in it, let alone the 8-10 you did!

Welp congrats on trying to convert to 6sp. But, I must requote you "reliablility who cares about that, lol). Next autos are not a fail if properly set up. Let me be the example 250k original trans. I have only a mild very mild vb mod from rob at nrh, next I have a cooler in which I told all yall to buy $40 at adavance. Let me point out that Dnene shift kit/vb mod is too harsh for the stock tranny #1 and she had no cooler. I dont know which one you have? Umair the one you raced has a vb w/ no cooler. the fenwicks blow trannys no cooler. but, I have seemed to keep my same auto all this miles.

I thought it was over 4 cars? Still , that's an average of 2.5 tranny's per car.

O.k maybe I need to break it down to you... everybody wants a reliable car, the context in which "who cares about reliability" was different... dmv was talking about track times and after a member whooped up on ur times you jumped out sayin I have the most reliable car in the dmv, as if having a reliable car is some kinda major event or copetition, so I then said who gives a ish about reliability, other orger beat ur times.... there is a lot of ppl with a transmission cooler who still kill there transmission you are just the one lucky 1... again maxima auto trans are weak and I never really cared for it, this just gives me all reason to do what I really wanted...............

I'm curious how the CAN/VSS/TPS/APPS etc. will be by-passed if the AT ECU is somehow used.

Can you confirm that the 5.5 even uses CAN? I thought only the 6th gens had CAN.

Only the AT's do. I had to deal with that when I severed my ECU wire bundle.

It may be possible to by-pass the TCM, but hopefully the AT ECU wont look for signals from the TCM. it be interesting ti know this for sure.

Since if I ever go this route, I wont have to pony up for a TS-F-Spec in 6MT trim. I just have a hard time seeing with all of the APPS/TPS stuff that it would appreciate using an AT ECU while MT.

I actually want to use my auto ECU, less parts to get ... again I don't care about the CEL.... save on install time... onlything I'm getting new is probebly a clutch, flywheel and starter, shoot ill take used mounts.... moncef can u make me a sticker?... let it have the writing "rust" and a bucket under it.... I understand everybody prefer a 6mt ecu and I would if I even care but I don't, ill be buying another car and this will literally be a beater.... I'm over this car really, I love it darely but not enough to even put one more mod on it.... just sold my LR maf to tookrzy
