A couple of 5th Gen questions
A couple of 5th Gen questions
I recently bought a '00 SE with 163k on it. It was a California one owner car. This is only my second Max, so I am still something of a noob on them. It has a couple issues that need to be addressed. First: I notice the engine moves quite a bit when the engine is revved. I was thinking it was the rear mount, but after reading on here I am not sure. Should I replace all of them? What are ES mounts? Next: it need new brakes all around and the brake light on the dash is on. It goes off sometimes, but not very often. With this, the brakes lights do not work (new bulbs). Is there a connection, or is the switch on the pedal bad? Last: There is a lot of wind noise coming from the sunroof, but it does not leak. Can it be adjusted? The car also need new shafts as the outer boots are gone. This isn't a problem, I did new shafts on my '95. But, does anything else need to be addressed when I change the axles? Thanks in advance for the help folks.
1st= change them all. IIRC ES is the brand.
2nd= change the brakes and the bulbs and the light should go out, if not then you have a problem with you ABS, and you could search those issue's here
3rd= this is a good question, I don't think you can adjust the roof. If you could it would be very minuet.
Axles= yes change them, and you will need to replace (or be prepared to) the transaxle oil if manual or transmission fluid if auto. Passenger side has 3 bolts about halfway towards transmission, you can't miss them... be sure to remove these three they are tedious boogers.

I am in the process of replacing the water pump on a 1995 nissan maxima.. I have followed step by step step instructions of the Haynes manual. However i was in the process of reinstalling the tensioner on the guide of the timing chain towards the top of the motor and accidentally let the spring coil and the little plastic piece come out and it fell down inside of the motor ..Anyone know of any way to get the spring and plastic piece out without taking the whole timing chain cover off???
