If you're doing a full HID setup in front 6000k on top 3000k on the fogs is the way to go.

6000k is just too blue for a daily driver. cant see crap at night, hurts peoples eyes on the road, and it looks "aftermarket" cheap.

4300k (4500k from ddmtuning) goes very well with the 3000k, excellent vision at night, and it looks original, which gives a better appeal to the car. just sayin!

5000K is perfect IMHO but 8000K on top of 3000K looks sweet at night (appearance wise not output wise).

Werd. He'll find out how useless they are on the first rainstorm on a highway.

Did you get H3 bulbs or H3C? There was a debate a little while ago that one of those (can't remember) don't fit properly in the stock fog housing.

I got the H3, had to bend the reflector down a bit to make it fit

I could understand if you're talking about the 8000k's because you're sacrificing output for looks but I'm not seeing the rice here.

BE SURE TO AIM YOUR FOGLIGHTS DOWNWARD!! I've been pulled over twice for my fog lights becuase they were aimed properly, but cause WAY TOO MUCH glare when there's that much light output...

I say about 2-3 hours wanted to take my time. The longest part was removing the headlights after that it was a breeze.

pull the car up to a flat wall, parked on a flat surface, then take a pic to post, that'll make it much easier to determine which one needs aiming...

GL OP, don't go with 8k. I went with 5k top and bottom and they are still a bit blue but not too much so. I may eventually go to 4300.

I'm searching for the facebook "Like" button but I dont see it on here!

I went with 4500k from ddm tuning, and its still too blue. I will eventually try to find something between 4000-4300k, but I'd have to be lucky to find a place selling anything other than 3000, 4300/4500, 5000 etc...

OP: I looked at the pics again. The passenger side needs to be aimed upward. or maybe, depending on your preference, your drivers side needs to be aimed downward. Do you know how to aim them while the assemblies are still mounted into the bumper?

A little off-topic, but not so much: Another maxima friend came over today and I worked on his fog lights. they were both cracked, and one had cracked enough to let water in.

He bought new bulbs, I dried the housing, and sealed all cracks with a 60-second epoxy. It hardens and doesnt budge, doesnt melt, but does turn yellow-ish over time (with hot hot hot HID's on mine) but we will see how well it works with the heat of regular halogen bulbs.

when you were installing the fogs, did you happen to see a white plastic round piece that a 10mm socket could fit around? there's a hole in the bumper to reach that when the fog light is installed. fit a 10mm deep socket in there, have your car aimed at a wall or garage door (with car on a level surface) and aim them appropriately.

I dont know the specification offhand on how far up they should be compared to how far away your car is from the wall, but adjust a bit, and drive the car down the road. if you flip the fogs off and on, and the fogs shine bright on street signs, its too high.

also, did you know you can reach the fogs by unbolting the two 10mm bolts on top the headlights, unplugging the high beam, and two plugs on the end, and pulling the headlight out? its kind of hard becuase there are several ways the headlight locks into place, but its much easier than getting on the ground and fiddling with it through the plastic panels.

my bumper must have been an OEM replacement bumper, becuase I had to drill that adjustment hole out... I suggest doing that. if you look at it compared to the back of the fog light, you will understand exactly where it is.

Apologies for the novel!

Tim

Which kit from ddm tuning did you get for your hid fogs? Was it a direct fit or did you have to make some modifications?

I got the H3 35w kit. 55w will be too bright and give off too much heat. I dont care what anyone else says, HID's DO HEAT UP. and yes, in extreme cases, they will burn your headlamp lens.

I did have to modify. your foglight is a bulb with a wire. your HID fog light bulb is a light with a socket at the end of it, so you have to drill through the dust cap to fit the end through. then you have to seal it with caulk so moisture doesnt get in.

No, 5000k in headlights it not "FTW". Sure, its not as bad as 12,000k, but it sure doesnt look "completely white", nor does it look stock. ESPECIALLY if you get them from DDM tuning. Their colors run a little on the rich side. My 4500k's from them are noticably more blue than stock.

With a car that originally comes with HID's, I like to keep the look of stock. It gives a more rich appearance to a vehicle, and keeps it from looking too ricey or modified. BLUE headlights are distasteful and unattractive. Plus, they **** alot of drivers off.
