p0400

Ok so I have had this damn code (p0400) since I bought the car. I want to take off as much of the EGR stuff I can and clean it out... Problem is I really have no idea what the EGR stuff looks like lol. I want to get rid of this freakin' code!

is the 2003 the same as 2000? I can back track and try and find the same thing for my 2000 if it's not the same.

Oh God no, EGR is completely different for 3,5s.

EGR is a different beast on 3.0's.

That FSM might help ... but yeah. PITA system.

That thread leaves a lot to be desired lol, it's not very descriptive. Also if you remove the EGR will it throw a code? I am in California so I can't have my SES light on to pass smog.

Actually, it has been covered a lot, nearly ten fold around here in recent years.

For some fantastic insight, PM pmohr, he's good with this type of stuff.

To ge to the EGR tube you will have to remove the Throttle Body and it will be right behind it sticking up into the Intake Manifold. To the left of the EGR tube will be the EGR Valve.

Alright, I will pick probably order the gaskets then for my throttle body, IACV and EGR since I will be taking all of that stuff off.

What I am seeing online is like an o-ring type gasket for the Throttle body, is that the right part?

Just a word of advice from experience... DO NOT clean your TB when it is off. Tempting as it might be!

There have been a couple thread about this if you want to read up.

I beleive the TB issue is with 2002+ Maxima's not with 2000 and 2001. I have cleaned TB many times when it is off with no issues.

Yeah I have a 2000, I have already cleaned the TB while it was connected to the car. I just haven't taken it off yet so I am not sure what the gasket looks like.
