Procedure for Fail Safe Mode Recovery?

Hey guys, I had my TPS crap out on me a few days ago, so I did all the tests and found the TPS was shot so I bought a used 05 TB. I installed it today and the car is drivable. But I can't reset anything. I did the throttle closed relearn and pedal released relearn, but I can't get the idle relearn to go, and according to auto enginuity my timing has been retarded to 10. Which really sucks when you are used to 17*.

So is there some sort of procedure to get the ECU out of the fail safe mode?

The typical ecu reset procedure should work. I've done it a quite a few times to get out of the fail safe.

Hmm, well I finally reset the ECU, but I can't do the idle air relearn because the darn idle is too high. According to the FSM if the idle is out of spec the idle air will fail.
