Help!! Bosal rr mufl asm install

Need help on getting it in! It wont go...how high must the car be!!...I have it quite high on the jack and the flange won't clear the beam area. It's weird angle is giving me fits.

Also, does it go between the u-shape and the trunk floor? I forgot to note old routing.

Higher than you have it. Typical jack is not high enough.

Hey,,,,,I Got it!

I had to put it almost as high as the jack would go. Something like 19" or so because my jack goes to like 19 5/8" and at one time measuring I had it up to 18" and that STILL was not enough height. Geesh...I barely made it!

Now I have to just put it together and that shld go smooth.....(hope so!)

Thanks for your help, guys!

Is that for me? Just bosal with my stock muffler/res asm. I am not after sound so I hope it merely works out ok. I am after fit/function/no hotrod sound.

I got them from partstrain at a good price. I might have to switch a gasket they sold me since although they say it fits, the hole diameter and overall size is larger than the oem gasket on the front of old res asm. I guess i could try it and just swap it out after I am up and running again. I called them again and they say the pn# is correct, but I'm not so sure.

Sure, I'll check into it and see if I can get that. It's been some time since my flange joint was going bad and I can't say that new bosal sounds any diff than b4 my issues...can't remember. Seems quiet, though.

Except....for the rattle of the pipe hitting the rr beam area. Any tricks to this? Been monkeying w/ the rubber hangers and trying to adjust the unit to help it clear better and cannot find the true fix. It just hangs and I can't seem to force it to a better position.

What a lesson on determination....doing this job w/out a lift....

Suggestions on the rattle?

I keep messing w/ zip-ties to force the unit forward just a tad to clear the beam...this shld not ever have been an issue...anyone else had to solve this? This is crazy stupid/weird problem to have.

Let me re-phrase: I did manage to get it installed some time ago but since then the pipe can clang against the rear beam where it goes over it. It's as if the bend was incorrect, but I find that hard to believe it can be off that much. I dont have the stock one to compare.

I have monkeyed w/ the rubber hanger adj and no permanent fix. It's hard to explain, but I have a zip tie on a forward location giving it a small lift which does solve the problem but my little fix is not permanent and I just can't solve in a better way.

Again, this SHLD NOT be an issue....but it is....anyone else have this problem?
