per carpoint.com, the invoice price (w/destination) for 2k2 SE w/no options is 23,400. That makes it 300 under the invoice? Not bad.

I thought it was a good deal! One thing they said to me though is they are selling the car for wholesale so that's what they plan to give for the trade.

Loaded except for NAV (can't get it in Canada). You have to import it yourself which isn't super simple, but it's do-able. I have my 6spd w/ HLSD on order from a dealer in Canada.

6spd is standard on se, Auto is an option.
so even with this great deal the 6spd should be cheaper.

They're both no-cost options. Your choice, same price. The auto was out first, and more autos are sold than 6-speeds, so really you could say the 6-speed is the option tranny since it will be harder to find.

BTW, I got my SE (with just floor mats and body-color splash guards) for $23,411 in the DC area. It's not hard to get the Maximas down to invoice because they're not the hot cars right now like the new Altima and SE-R.

Rosenthal in Tyson's Corner. I got an initial quote through CarsDirect.com from Passport Nissan in Alexandria of about $200 over invoice (they list their "internet pricing" right on their website at www.passportauto.com). Then I called Rosenthal with that quote, so they of course offered to beat it. Brown's in Fairfax got in the game a little later and offered to beat Rosenthal's best deal (they apparently have a lowest-price guarantee) but I was already far enough along with Rosenthal that I felt obligated to finish the deal there. I didn't have a really strong commitment from Brown's that they would beat it by enough more to make it worth starting all over.

You get to pay GST and PST (for a total of 15%) but they are both refundable by mail. You have to pay a 2.5% import duty on the car when bringing it into the US on the pre-tax price. You'll also have to pay your states sales tax on it when you go to the DMV to get the title transfered. But you have to pay sales tax on any new car. Those are all the fees that I can think of off the top of my head. I have more detailed instructions at home.

i went to rosenthal first and the absolute lowest we could get them down to on a fully loaded 6 speed was $30,500. we still werent happy with that so we kept trying for a better deal but get this...one of the sales managers came out and actually said "i hope you dont buy this car for $30,500 because we can sell it for $33,000 or $34,000 all day long" so of course we left. i went to browns and they wanted to beat rosenthal but they would only go to $30,000 so i just decided to go to the dealer in harrisonburg, va (where i go to school).

try Nationwide Nissan, Len Stoler Nissan, Sheehy Nissan, and Security Nissan in the Baltimore area...there are not many high-paying jobs in the area, thus demand is slower than in DC. You should be able to get a better deal here.
