P0464 solution?
P0464 solution?
The SES light came on about 9 months ago for P0464 (fuel level sensor). Despite the code, the fuel gauge never gave an incorrect reading of the fuel level all the while it was on. During the first six months, I would clear the code every now and then hoping that it would go away, but no such luck as it continued to come back on. After six months, I took the car to the dealership and they said that in their experience, it was very rare for maxima's to have this problem, and suggested I replace the fuel level sensor if the fuel gauge stopped working properly.
I decided to check into the possibility that there was a bad fuse. Without knowing which fuse to replace, I replaced all the mini fuses in the fuse boxes under the steering wheel and next to the battery that referred to electronic, fuel, or engine control. Although none of the old fuses visually looked blown, apparently that did the trick because the SES light went away and has not come back on in 3 months. Anway it seems to have worked, so I guess it could be considered a possible solution.
