Record 0 - 60 times? Dash Hawk

I was watching some videos on youtube and I seen someone get 0 - 60 times on a MazdaSpeed 3 with this device. I thought it was pretty cool. Does anyone know if this will work on the 02-03 Maxima? I looked at the info and it said something about a "CAN Bus" I have no idea what that is. If it doesn't work does anyone know anything similar that can be connected to see 0 - 60 times? I have Cipher and it is supposed to do it but the feature is greyed out and wont let me do it.

"CAN Bus" is the language that cars speak. I think. I guess it gets its information from the wheel sensors to calculate mph. I wonder how accurate it is. It didn't list what Nissan's it works with thou.

I guess people have forgot about the G-Tech pro, those are pretty neat but don't expect that to be 100 percent accurate. Have you or are you planning on going to the dragstrip?

Probably next year sometime. I just want something to give an approximation. That G-Tech thing works???

Just get a cheap ODBII bluetooth adapter and pair it to your phone, then get the 5$ torque app. Its the same thing except it runs on your phone so no need to buy this device, it calculates 0-60, 0-100, 1/8 and 1/4 times you can also enter your weight and such and it will estimate your hp and Tq, even graph it for you. It also has 2 axis g meter, monitors a large assortment of engine stats and is fairly responsive. It also allows you to pull codes and clear them. not bad for around 35 bucks.

And yes both 5th gens have a CAN-BUS

It also has a cool app built in that will flash a shift light at what ever rpm you select which i thought was pretty cool

thanks for the idea..I bought a OBD II bluetooth off ebay and the thing came in the mail today. Already downloaded the torque app. Time to have some FUN!!! Gonna try it out and post some 0 - 60 and 1/4 miles numbers!!!! I know its not going to be pinpoint accurate as the track, but I'll get a good approximation.

I have for the 0-60 and it usually puts me around 6-6.5 seconds
I haven't actually found a place to do a standing 1/4 yet but hopeful I will find a spot soon, but overall it works pretty well

Nice I downloaded this "track recorder" plug in and you can actually use the phone to record while the guages are on the side...looks like this:

OK...I did some runs last night and from what I can tell the thing is not really accurate on the 0-60 times...and it also lags on thr rpm and speed from what I can tell.

I was at a light from a dead stop and the freeway entrance straight ahead of me last night......accelerated as soon as light turned green...said 0-60 was 8.3 seconds.....flat surface...no hills.

Then later I was at a stop sign then turned LEFT going UP a pretty steep hill and said 0 - 60 was 8 seconds.....WTF??? YEAH RIGHT. Honda Civic faster than that!!! Even looking at the speedometer on torque you can see it gets to 60 mph faster than 8 seconds.....soemthing is wrong. I dont see how you getting 6 seconds.....unless I'm doing something wrong. I think I'd be better off with one that is connected directly to the device....bluetooth seems to have some lag.

I believe the weight would only affect the hp/tq numbers, what phone do you have? could be the phone is not fast enough either perhaps? Ive also read that not all those ODBII elm 327 adapters are the same, even though they look it on the outside.

also those were my times in the summer, im not sure where in PA you are put right now i doubt i could do better with the snow we got in ohio

No...I thought it only needed weight to calculate HP......Im not even going to attempt that.....but perhaps the weight might work. And if I did put weight in how I know how much car weigh with half tank of gas and me inside??? It would be a guess....

I used to calculate my 0-60 using the VSS and WBO2 software in hertz, then convert it to seconds.

I got a droid X still on 3G. There is no snow here at all it was perfectly dry. I would not even attempt 0 - 60 in the snow. I can see the thing lags behind what the real data is. I even checked the option that says "faster communication" so that it gets info faster from the OBD II. I got the new ELM 327...thats what the claim was on eBAY....says its the newest version and faster than the old ones...who knows. I know 8 seconds is absurd and bogus....LOL. I can look at the speedo and see that its faster than that....if that 3700lb 2010 Camaro with a 305hp V6(at the fly probably about 260whp like mine) can do 6 seconds......Im sure my 3300 lb maxima with the same hp can so better than that....

Looks pretty neat but I think it might get the best of me and i'd be tempted to break the previous 0-60 mph record everytime I get a chance

Hmm very strange, I dont know why it seams so off, Im using a Droid Bionic for what its worth but the X is still a very capable phone so I would doubt that be an issue

I wonder if they make a hard line version that connects to a Droid usb port, that be sweet to pair with the Torque App

maybe something like this to avoid waiting on the cars ecu at all would be better albeit more expensive

I got the Vgate OBD II Version 1.5...the old ones were 1.4....which one you have?

EDIT: Does yours talk??? When Im accelerating real hard the phone says something......cant hear what its saying over the exhaust!!! LOL! Maybe its saying "MALFUNCTION" LOL.....which would be the reason for the 8 second 0 - 60 bogus times???

OK...finally heard what that thing says....when I was accelerating real hard it says: "Caution, icy conditions." It thinks just because its 29 degrees here there is ice...but it was dry out. That was hilarious....so, yes, it talks....tells yo azz to chill out if you going fast in the snow...LOLOL.

You know what....I give up on this torque app and OBD II bluetooth garbage!!! Got 7.3 seconds yesterday...what trash!!! I was actually reading Cipher manual and it says it can calculate 0-60 times...going to try that since its directly connected to the ECU and using the vehicle speed from the ECU...see if that's any better!! Going to flush that STUPID OBD II bluetooth adapter down the toilet after I pizz on it!!!

Ha that bad eh, It is pretty useful for the other things before you flush it lol, Even just using it to read and clear codes would be enough to keep it

Thats what I got Cipher for because its WAY superior than Torque. Just don't like having to have a laptop in the car and was looking for something smaller. We'll see what Cipher says.....
