Those things are plastic. I wouldn't use that. Look for a metal pipe at least.

Has lifetime warranty. I'm thinking of buying this because the metal midpipes cost about seven times more than the spectre.

Yea it would work fine. I used to have it. Like you said, its so much cheaper than the metal and unless i'm mistaken.....just because its plastic doesn't mean its crappy. Using cheaper parts where and when you can is how you save money. Spectre makes good products and mass produces them so they can sell them for cheaper. This is a good thing for us and unless your a name-brand ***** then go for it bro

Mine is plastic and hasn't melted yet...LOL.

Mine doesn't either.......just make sure you have breathers on BOTH VCs not just the front. Most people just put breather on front. Need one on the back VC too. You'll need to cap the upper mani with a vacuum cap once you remove the tube from the Rear VC to the mani.

^I hope so, because I"m looking forward to hearing someone explain how Plastic is better at transferring heat than metal.

And why the 00VI doesn't need phenolic spacers.

I would expect the closer the plastic is to the manifold then it would melt. I do not like any of those Spectre products. I had a black coupler on my car and after a few weeks the coupler was deforming and beginning to bulge. I took it off quick as I did not need an intake leak. I guess if this was used by the air filter it would be fine but I still don't like anything from them intake wise. Isn't this cheaper thou?

Wouldn't you rather go with it instead of the plastic?

I have the spectre midpipe and it works fine. Going on 2 months without a problem.

I say get it but the pcv hose is to big to fit the adapter on the midpipe so I had to use a smaller hose and seems to work just fine.

PM knight_yyz (Ray) and see if he has anything available or is going to produce more.

It would have to be the cheapest plastic ever.

The 2000/2001 INTAKE MANIFOLD is made of ABS Plastic...... it is mounted directly to the block and also directly above the Exhaust manifold.....

You had to go there! Now you've opened a can of worms.

I believe the 7th gen Maximas have plastic intake manifolds too...they have dual VIAS and flow way better than the 5.5gen ones.

Has a lifetime warranty? It's an $11 item.

My (limited) experience with Spectre is that they spend more money on packaging and presentation than they do product.

^I'm with you on that Rochester. Spectre is marketing, the actual parts are about as cheap as they can make them, all the money goes into package/appearance. It's worked for them though, and for some basic components like this thing, who cares if it's cheap as long as it's thick enough to hold clamp force and seal.....

Would I buy it, or YOU? Nope, no chance, but for this guy who is clearly looking to save dollars instead of getting the nicest stuff out there, it'll do just fine. And I won't get into the reasons why I wouldn't buy it, that's too technical for this threads purposes.

IMO I'd just look for a mid pipe on eBay from one of those cheap intake kits. I paid $25 for mine and it's much higher quality then these. I've seen these in AutoZone and they seem very cheaply made.
