Just want to say thank you to Dj. If anyone local is even thinking about putting new struts on. Even if you are mechanically inclined. Go see Dj. I had my entire suspension done by him in under two hours. This guy knows his stuff and the little ins and outs that someone without maxima experience wouldn't know. He's the best I've seen do a strut job and did it on jackstands. He won't be around doing these jobs forever so anyone in jersey or the tri state area check him out you won't be disappointed. Thanks Dj.

Yes, stabilizer links = sway bar links = endlinks.

I've never seen a set of links 'seize' - and it is DEFINITELY possible to replace the bushings without touching the links.

Nice meeting ya man. Your car was a breeze and I'm glad it all worked out. Start to finish in an hour and 20 minutes!

Thanks for the support!

Hey how are you dude?

New project I'm looking into doing sometime soon. I need to do my breaks, everything from rotors to pads to calipers. I just want all the old, rusty **** gone and in with all new. I also was thinking about 6th gen BBK possibly.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Would you be interested in helping?

Sounds like a nice upgrade. 6th gen upgrade is definitely a nice thing to do.

Sure, I can help. It's pretty easy if we replace everything including calipers. We'll finish it off with a full brake bleed. PM me and we can get the ball rolling.

Comfort is subjective. Lots of variables to include when making a judgement like this.

Tein are quite good from comfort perspective.

Best coils under $1000 will probably be Megan's or BC's.

BC's - www.bcracing-na.com

Also search around, plenty of threads about BC.

If ur roads are that bad, I think u should stay away from coilovers, I wasted my money wit those then spent more money going oem

Hey i've been looking it up but, are coilovers plug & play? I know with struts and springs you need a tool to compress, etc. With coilovers you just install out the box? If so, that just adds to my new decision to go with coilovers. You told me a while back to go with KYB's and H&R because i like comfort. However for the money, and me wanting to be a little lower. I figured I'd spend a couple more hundred and get some decent quality coilovers(Megan or BC). What do you think DJ? The key in whatever I choose is not to be worst than stock for being lowered lol.

Yes, swap the entire assembly in/out, no need for compression or decompression of springs.

You DO have adjustments to do before installing them. Can't just install out of the box.

No matter what, if you lower, you are making sacrifices in terms of comfort. You gain that back in handling.

My car is a 04 I35, just like the maxima. Using this thread (awesome thread djfrestyl), I picked up the H&R's, the KYB's, the oem dust boots and the moog strut mounts. Before I tackle this, just want to know, am I using any parts from the old strut setup? Also, should I cut any off of the boot stop? Not too sure about this

Yes, you'll still have to reuse the metal upper spring perch, the rubber gasket that goes inside the perch, as well as the strut mount stud plate. When you assemble it should be inherent what you have that's new, and what needs to be reused.

With H&R's you shouldn't need to cut the bumpstops.

Cool, thanks. When I opened up all the boxes, it got kind of intimidating seeing the different parts. But I guess when I take out the old strut and take a look at it, it will make sense, I hope

I did it a few months ago. TAKE YOUR TIME... It took me a few hours but I took my time with each strut. I even took before pics to make sure I was lining everything up correctly when installing the new stuff. When you get the old strut off, look at it, inspect it, and remember how it looks and goes back onto the vehicle. My springs actually had little paint marks on them to tell which way they were supposed to be facing when re-installed. You can do it, here is the link for step-by-step instructions. I can't tell you how good it felt NOT to pay someone $1000+ to do this...

I'm doing the wheel bearing (Timken) and found that my outer tie rod is aging ( no play or anything) but it feels pretty loose. I usually go with Moog brand but didn't want to wait for the shipping ( this is DD) and I could find this tie rod at Napa with grease fitting.

http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...150_0130975272

Have you guys used any NAPA Chassis parts in general and specifically for their Tie Rod ends ?

This looks like a fair product.

Napa usually can get Moog branded products if you don't want to wait for shipping. Usually same day availability.

Hi, I have a question regarding coilover installation. So I just purchased a set of Tein Street Advance coilovers for my 5.5 gen and was wondering what I need in addition to the coilovers. Do I need upper and lower spring seats? Do I need spring seat bearings? Do I need new strut mounts? Strut mount spacers? Strut mount plates? Strut mount brackets? And I'm still divided between Moog and OEM strut mounts... Moog's are a lot cheaper but it seems like the consensus around here is to go with the OEM's.

If it's brand new shouldn't it be plug and play?

It's the Tein Street Advance, so they utilize the stock strut mounts to give it a better ride. I'm just confused as to whether I need the whole slew of parts that I just listed???

Why would you need new strut mounts and such on a new part? I don't think so

No, the Tein Street Advance do utilize the stock strut mounts; however, I am not 100% on all the parts I will need. These are what I ordered George: http://www.redline360.com/image/cach...rs-500x500.jpg

Do you see how there are no strut mounts at the top.

It is not plug and play. You only think you know what you're talking about, but you're not explaining it properly, so you're not helping in any way. You're just causing more confusion. Please stop.

Hi Isaac. Kudos to you for asking the right question.

The picture posted is actually missing one part that the Tein coilovers DO come with, and that is the upper spring perch.

In the fronts, based on this diagram, you need part #'s
- 54325 and 54320. They come together if you buy Moog Part #K90655
- 54322. This is a dealer only part, OR reuse your existing one.

In the rear, based on this diagram, you need part #'s
- 55248 (dealer only)
- 56218, 55322, 56217, 56113 - they come together in any Moog or KYB rear strut mount assembly.

In the rears you can reuse all the existing parts - or purchase separately if you want to keep your OEM suspension whole. I do recommend replacing the front strut mounts (hence the Moog K90655 recommendation)

Do they always come unpackaged like that? So it's more like a "kit"?

Hey thanks so much. This leads to my next question though. So I've been going through the threads trying to find out whether moog or oem would be better, and some people were saying moog is good and some were saying not so much, but there were no complaints on the oem mounts. So, would you recommend OEM?

George, the diagram is a picture of the stock strut assembly. The link that I posted is how the Teins look when you get them.

So is it a MUST to get an alignment after installing coilovers?

Generally yes, unless:

1. You don't care about camber, toe, or tire wear.
2. You have lasers for eyes and are able to install coilovers so the car is perfectly aligned afterwards.

(Above holds true for any suspension install - not necessarily just coilovers. Springs/struts, control arms, etc)

Hell yeah 100% or the tires will get chewed up fast. Like in 2 months fast that's how bad.

I'm with Fakie, I didn't know that the rear could be aligned due to the solid nature of it.
