Undetected Noise From Front Right Wheel

Hey everyone,

I just bought my 01 Maxima SE a little over a week ago. The issue that I can't wrap my head around is that there is a scraping coming from the drivers side wheel. It has to do with the brakes because once I apply the brakes to stop they scrape loudly. Once I accelerate again the noise near diminishes. Also, when taking a right turn the noise increases.. Of course first thing was to replace brakes and rotors. Noise is still there?? There is a rattling noise coming from the same area when going over bumps or uneven pavement. Not sure if they are related to one another. Does anyone have any idea as to what the scraping can be coming from? Thanks for any feedback.

Scarping noise can be the cover behind the disc rotor. It can be bent inward scraping against the rotor slightly.

The rattling noise sounds like something loose. It may be the bearing for the upper strut mount. Can you pinpoint if the noise is come from the axle, suspension, or something around the brakes?

Thanks for the reply! I am going to get my car looked at tomorrow morning to see where the scraping is coming from.

As for the rattling noise. It sounds more like it is coming from the suspension/brake area.

I will update tomorrow if I find out what it is.

Thanks.

I'd say the scraping noise is a sign the pads need to be replaced.
As far as the rattling I doubt it is from the brakes, I'm with foodmanry on suspension.

Maybe I should have been a little more specific. The issue is detectable yet the cause is undetectable. My apologies for the confusion.

I just went today to have ceramic brakes installed and rotors resurfaced. The noise didn't even slightly get better. I am dropping it off tomorrow morning to get looked at more thoroughly in attempt to find the issue. It sounds exactly like brake pads but it isn't.. Very mind boggling.

I didnt have the bearings checked. I will be sure to mention it when I bring the car to get looked at tomorrow. The issue is just peculiar to me because the first two days I had it, it was fine, no noises. Then the noises began to come on gradually and now it is just too loud of a scraping. Hopefully the issue is found tomorrow so I can be done with it and get it fixed!

Thanks

AJ

Hey everyone,

Just an update regarding my issue with the noise. After having it looked at several times and having all new rotors, brakes and control arm replaced, it turns out that the wheel bearing is ready to go and causing the issues and noises. My Max is currently at the shop getting the wheel bearing replaced and I should have it back later today. I am hoping, after all of this, that this will finally take the noise away. All that will be left is a good tire rotation, balance, and alignment and she will be good to go! Just want to thank everyone who took the time to reply! Thanks!
