Arrgg! PIAA H3 bulb blew again.

Okay, I just replaced the other one about 1 month ago, now the other side went!! Man, I have had it with H3 piaa's! They don't last like the headlights. I am considering getting the HELLA H3 YELLOW bulbs, dunno how it would look with the HID though!

What your thoughts?

That is why I do not believe in buying bulbs that cost me more than $15 a pair. No point in wasting money on crap that keeps burning out.

Are you touching the bulbs or something? That finger grease might be burning them out? I've been told it's ok since they don't get that hot, but I still wouldn't do it.

I never touch the bulbs. I get about 6 months out of the bulbs....usually 4 months.

hmm...look at IS300s...they kinda look alot like at night...with blasting HIDs...i guess i'd look ok...but it'd just look too much like a Lexus...is that bad???

geez..i've had my shares of aftermarket H3s too...i've probably gone thru like 5-6 sets all in last year...so i finally gave up on the H3s. and just using the stock H3s..it's kinda weird at first, but i got used to it. besides, with these, i don't have to change them every other week...

Same problem I had with my H3 Piaa as well as the H4. PIAA blows and I would never buy them again!

Whoa, 3 hours? I probably will stick with stock. The higher output HID's do sound interesting though.

Well the good news is I think they have a 1 year warranty. I have used piaa H3 bulbs for a few years now, only 1 bulb ever bearned out{piaa platinum H3} on me. I love my H3 extremes, they match my HID's all to well. BTW the install should not take more then a 1/2 hour, what were you doing all that time ?

when my piaa H4's went out after about 6 months, i got a pair of generic aftermarket hyperwhites. i did a side by side comparison compared to my PIAA H3's and couldn't see any difference, and these cost me only $25 and have already outlasted the piaa's!!! LOL

as for the H3's i have 55w yellow bulbs that you can't even tell are yellow unless you look @ the ground right in front of the car. i got them for $25 from "sesquoina" (sp?) and have never given me problems.

I've had my Philips BlueVisions in there for alomost a year now.... no problems and the fogs are always on. They may not look as good as PIAAs, but they are still better than stock.

had the same issue but...

i originally had piaa h3 superwhites with the same problem with them going out within a few months. what i did to solve it was...degrease the bulbs with brake cleaner before you install them. (you never know if those guys from the factory touched them or what have you) also, watch out for the small opening in the foglight housing. if you touch the sides with the bulbs, they'll go out sooner than you think. i have mine for a year but just switch them to xtremes.

hope that helps

i don't know where u live but around here, there aren't much you can do to your car for $8! most time, these lights cost around $25-$30. try 'brand' name lights like the razos, piaas...whew~ you're looking at close to a $100.

I had hyperwhites on my car & they blew out 2x within a month (2 brand new pairs too).....So I switched over to piaa's for 6 months now & have had no problems b/c the lady told me to shut off my lights BEFORE you shut the car off & turn on the lights AFTER you start the car....she said this will make my lights last longer since it wouldnt short them out....hope this helps

I use the Manual On setting :-) This is because when I am in the garage it will go on, and then soon it will go off. I think they say it's better not to switch it on and off, therefore, I have it in manual mode

yeah I know we have the auto-setting but to make the bulbs last longer do it manually.....I forgot exactaly what it is but its something to do w/ shorting out the bulbs &/or shorting the life of the bulbs if you just shut the car off w/ headlights on....

Hmmm, that's wierd. There are lots of people blowing the PIAA bulbs but I have yet to blow one so soon. Even taking all those pre-cautions on contact etc... Bad batch perhaps? PIAA will replace blown bulbs under warranty, I think. Just my $0.02
