Which car has better gear ratios??

The new cl-s or the new 6-speed max. Here are the cl-s ratios

1st: 3.933
2nd: 2.478
3rd: 1.700
4th: 1.250
5th: 0.976
6th: 0.771

Reverse: 4.008
Final: 3.286

I hope the maxima has better gearing.
Can't wait to get one only 6 more days

If you are getting a Max anyway, who cares?

I would just like to know because i'm curious!!!. Is that a crime. I'm picking my maxima up in 5 days from nissan. It's going to be the new six speed with the hlsd. I think we (canadians) are getting them first.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Top speed in each gear (assuming enough HP)

2002.5 CL-S 6 speed:
39.11334276
62.07940964
90.48986887
123.0662217
157.6155503
199.5237057

2002 Maxima SE S speed:
40.66863902
65.96101791
92.11797329
121.5433354
158.5021246
203.5368553

Considering the powerband of the typical honda engine (missing torque) I'd say the Max has the better ratios. Well maybe I should say that since the gearing is more or less equal the fact that the Max has more torque and that it starts at a lower RPM should give it the better overall combination.

Nope I am Stereodude in Michigan. Don in Texas is "Don in Texas" on the board I believe.

I'm still ****ed that you're getting your HLSD Maxima from Dixie & 401 Nissan before me. Jeff says he'll have mine before the end of the month, but I wanted it last Sept.

What's wrong with the Acura gearing?

I guess it depends on what type of driving you want to do. If your a lazy shifter around town, the Maxima has enough torque to pull the car up by it's boot laces from 1k rpm. Just leave it in 2nd or third and drive it like an auto. Unlike some people, I don't think the closer gearing hurts it in the 1/4 mile either. Yes there is an extra 3/4 shift at around 90mph, but you should be able to get a 14.5s and up to 97mph over that distance with three shifts.

2002 6-speed ratios:

1st 3.153
2nd 1.944
3rd 1.392
4th 1.055
5th .809
6th .630
Rev. 3.002

Maxrpm i live in pickering, near pickering town centre. Stereodude i sould be getting mine in 5 days however shouldn't you be getting it in 5 days also. If not maybye i am getting the first shipment and your getting the second shipment. Or maybye they might not really have my maxima in 5 days.

I didn't say anything was wrong with it. I only said the Max's engine would do better with the nearly identical gearing they have.

When I called Jeff on the 3rd he said he had one "at port". That must have been yours. He said mine hadn't been "serialized" yet, but expected it to be within a week or so. He said after they're "serialized" it is between 9 and 20 days before they show up on the lot. Bottom line is I don't know why yours seems to be ahead of mine and the others.

The gearing looks pretty much identical to me. Both cars hit about the same speeds in each gear.

But, the CL-S 6spd is still a good bit heavier (+200 lb I think) and both cars have a similar powerband so the 2k2 Max 6spd will still beat it
