2000 SE w/5-sp. - hesitation at 3000-3500 rpms.

Does anyone have hesitation issues between 3000-3500 rpms ?

Had the MAF sensor and screen cleaned which did help a little....but not much.

Any ideas?

Thanks much.

I get the same hesitation. Never really cared to diagnose it though

It's your MAF most likely. Was this occurring before or after having it cleaned? Either way, check for any codes, but 7/10 times.. MAF

the car hesitated both and before after MAF was cleaned......although maybe a little better performance after cleaning.....minimal, at best.

Is the MAF a dealer only item?

Any idea about approx. cost?

Does car need to be reprogrammed at dealer after changing MAF?

What's the opinions in regards to finding used one in junk yard (if possible)?

Thanks.

Thank you very much. I really appreciate that. You saved me about $100. I've had about a shi**y day and that was welcome news.

OP, with the new MAF you will need a few miles of various driving for your ECU to get accustomed. Or better yet, use an OBD scanner and wipe the readiness monitors clean for a fresh start. Also make sure you have the Part Throttle Cut-off TSB that only affected the 00-01 M/T A33. Good Luck.

ended up buying a new MAF from Courtesy Auto and it resolved the problem. Runs much better now. Recently had to replace a coil pack also (#2 cylinder). Courtesy Auto mentioned that these are the 2 most common problems for this year.
