Keyless entry doesn't work
I'm having a problem with my 2001 Nissan Maxima. My remote, interior lights, truck release don't work when the car isn't on. I have a manual, but I can't locate the circuit breaker between the fuse link and the smart entrance control unit. Any help would be appreciated.

Hmmm... Does the remote work at all when the car is on? If not, it may just be your remote.
As far as the circuit breaker location, go to www.nicoclub.com/fsm/maxima/2001/el.pdf and check out page el-354. At the bottom of the page it shows it behind the fuse box near the combination flasher unit. I'd imagine it's probably pretty tough to locate in the car itself, but that will give you a good guideline for where to look.
Anyways, hope that helps, beyond that I will yield to the expertise of others on here. Lol.

Yes, the door locks, trunk release and remote work when the car is on. That's why I'm thinking some is wrong with either the fuse link or circuit breaker. Could the Smart Entrance control Unit be bad too if works when the car is on?

Since the items work with the car is on, then the fuse/circuit breaker is good. A fuse/circuit breaker cannot be bad when the car is off and fix itself while the car is on.
I'm not sure what the problem is but try unplugging the connectors on the SECU and then plugging them back in. I might help.

Yea, he's spot on, if it was the circuit breaker or a fuse it wouldn't work at all, car on or not. It honestly, could just be the remote battery, or the remote itself, but unplugging the SECU, cleaning the contacts, and plugging it back in could sort it out.
