Not every remote will work. The FCC ID is the reason. This ID says that the remote works on a specific radio frequency and the receiver in the trunk is a "one radio station" receiver.

So for a 2000 Maxima, you need a remote with a FCC ID of NHVWBU43. This remote will only work on the 2000, no other year model.

Also, if the remote you order does not come with programming instructions, they have been posted on maxima.org many times. All you have to do is search for them.

Find out what is the ID number that works on your car and get the same id number remote from ebay.

Call your dealer and give them your VIN number. Ask them for the part number needed for the remote. Google the part number to find out what the FCC is and then order the correct one cheaper.

To OP: Unless your posted information is wrong about which year Max you have; the quote posted above is the only information you need to know. Once you get the remote the programming is super simple. Just be sure to search for it here on the org.

First of all, verify that the FCC ID on the remotes is NHVWBU43.

I don't know what instructions you are following so I will post them. Follow them carefully and to the letter.

How to Program The 5th Gen Maxima OEM Alarm Key Fob Remote

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

To program the remote(s) follow this procedure.

1. Unlock all doors and get in car.

2. Close and lock all doors with power door lock switch on driver's door.

3. Insert the ignition key and completely remove it at least 6 times
within 10 seconds. The hazard warning lamps (both turn signals) will
then flash twice and all previous codes will be cleared.

4. Turn ignition key to "ACC" position.

5. Push any button on the new remote control key fob once. At this time,
the car learns the new ID code. The hazard warning lamps (both turn
signals) will then flash twice.

If you are programming just one remote, go to step 10.
If you need to activate additional remote controllers, continue with Step 6.

6. Manually unlock the driver's door only then lock again with door lock
****.

7. Push lock button on the additional remote controller once.

8. Hazard warning lamps (both turn signals) will then flash twice and
additional remote is programmed.

9. For additional remotes, go back to step 6.

10. When done, open the driver's door to exit programming state.

NOTE: A maximum of 4 remotes can be programmed to any ONE car.

yeah i did that and the FCC is correct. I literally tried 50 times to get it into programming mode. the hazards never flash and there is never any notification as to when the 6 inserts has completed.

I read that if you go to fast with the key insertions that it may not work.

and I also read taht someone didn't get the hazard flash but they continued and it worked.

yeah i have tried all different variations of speed for the key insert and removal. It has been three days now and has came to the point where whenever i get into my car i try it and its still to no avail. i have read every forum post on every nissan forum you can think of and have tried everything someone suggests. thats the only reason im posting back in this thread is because its my last resort. i have also tried to just continue after 6-8 tries even without the hazards coming on. this thing has me mind****ed i cant understand what is going wrong. its so simple but of course mine has to be an issue

Correct me if I am wrong, but if the blinkers do not flash something is wrong with the car alarm, it is not the remote not working.

Do all 4 doors lock and unlock from the master switch in the door? From the key?

When you have the key in the ignition, engine off, and you open the door, does the warning chime sound with the door open light illuminated in the dash?

May sound silly but double check the battery in the remote. I just ordered two off eBay for like 15 bucks and they worked perfect and programming was gravy as it gets. I may have had to enter my key more than 6 times tho. Is this a key that starts the car? Long story short make sure the key is one connecting to the transponder in the vehicle.

Get a stopwatch app for a mobile phone to time the 10 seconds accurately. You'll see if you are too fast or too slow. Thats what I had to do to try the idle air relearn procedure.

it is the only key that came with the car. it starts the car but is a recut transponder key with a blue dot on top. opens the car and starts it. i will get a new battery for the remote today and see if thats the case, but still the car would at least go into programming mode and allow the hazards to flash regardless if the battery in the remote was good or not
