2000 I30 Brakes
I have a 2000 I30 (Nissan Maxima) with 80,000 miles and the the mechanic tells me I will need to get the brake pads changed shortly. These are my questions:
1. Can I get the pads from the likes of RockAuto or should I go OEM?
2. The rotors with need to be turned. If I remember correctly, the mechanic said it will cost $30 to turn the front two and $30 for the rear two. Instead of putting the $60 into the labor, would it be better to put the $60 into purchasing 4 new rotors? Again, can I go to the likes of RockAuto or go should I go OEM?
3. I have read that this car develops problems with the calipers. From what I can see online, calipers are only used in the front. While I am not aware of any problems on my car, should I replace the calipers while the brakes are being changed? Again, is purchasing from the likes of RockAuto fine, or do I need to go OEM?
Lastly, are there any other parts that I need to purchase and supply to the mechanic to do a brake job properly?
Thanks much.
