Fog Lights Upgrade?

I was wonder if there was anyway to replace the factory fog lights lens cover (the fluted style) with anything that isn't fluted in my 2002? Maybe give a more clear look almost euro ya know.

Not sure if theres a different Nissan fog light that might work or if theres something after markert that is a perfect fit......Has anyone done some like this?

Eh I had projector style on my last Mazda and I didnt like the light pattern. I find the projectors are more a "driving light" than a "fog light".

BAM!!!!!.. Thats the stuff im looking for......Lookin into this now. Thanx

Ok so I looked up the xterra fogs and yes they look similar. But rear mounting portion that mount into the bumper looks more oval and a tad bit different. Is there anyone that has used these on there car? does it require a little modification? I like the clearness of them and id like to use if it can be done.

It looks like they swap out easily.

I wish I could do the same for my 5.5

That would be nice. I've replaced both my driving light housings from Nissan this past year. Despite buying the plastic protective film, passenger has already cracked. Anyone actually done this swap that can verify fitment?

If you look at the compatibility list on that page it seems like the xterra fog fit the 00-01 maximas... I've seen this alot as far as the compatibility list goes.

So my next question is what is the difference between the 5th & 5.5 Gen fogs?

BTW I'm not looking to buy those on the page I listed.... only using it for reference.

Front end is different. Different headlights, bumper cover, and fog lights. The fog light housings are a different size.

OK so if the housings are different sizes from the 5th and 5.5 Gen the the 02-04 fogs wont work on 5.5 Gen if they fit the 5th Gen. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't know why someone hasn't found or made a clear replacement lens for us.

The fluted 02-03 style is to spread the light as much as possible.....the best upgrade would be going from halogen to HID...IMO.

Not so sure. I've got HID's and although nice indeed, it would be benificial to know if there is a quality replacement available as an alternative to oem. I've had two depot lights crack AND an oem Nissan replacement crack that also had the clear rubber protectant cover.

In regard to HID being in a housing not designed for it, I'm not convinced the fluted lenses are better over a clear lense, considering the design the stock 5.5 gen headlights. Not suggesting the driving lights with clear lenses (Xterra) are designed for HID (don't know), but I think there should be less glare.

Have you solved this yet? Both of my lenses are cracked and would be nice to replace with clear lenses.

Ive been doing alot of looking back and forth on Rockauto and I cant see how the Xterra fogs fit our 5.5 Gens. For one the post that secure the fog light into the bumper are even close to where ours are. Secondly the bulbs are completely different, so a new harness would be required.....My guess is if ANYTHING we need to see if the assemblies are the same shape.... and if so then we switch out the lens?????? But I dont have the $$ to go out and buy lamps to experiment with.

So I purchased an HID kit for my fogs.... going to give that a shot. I know its not changing the look like a wanted to do but I want better lighting too.
