Pulled the codes

P1610 which is the cause of the no start
U1000 and U1001 which is the ecm ground, I more then likely got those codes cause the ECM is in the floor not its holder so its not grounded

shoot, just noticed this thread. So what was it? There is a big immobilizer section of the FSM that might have helped diagnose this faster if that is what it was

It was a stupid mistake brother...in one of my late night mechanic feasico things I messed up the ECU and every time I switched equipment I just made the same mistake, I'm a dumbass I know but I figured it out and swapped the ecu to the correct 6mt one and it fired first time.

[edit] I read the 2nd page.

Nice work.

Now swap the 00!

I'm off to do my first 5th gen (my car) one of these days.... Which seems on paper trickier than a Maxima.

Question... Did you have the ultra rare maxima feature.... TCS??

I have a matching key, immobilizer, and ECU from a 6MT. Somehow I mixed them up and was using the 6MT key and immobilizer with the Auto ECU. so when I swapped back to the auto immobilizer and key I used the 6MT ECU. Somehow I swapped them on my work bench. Now that I figured it out I have drove the car 1,000 miles already with no issues at all, yet anyway

Sadly...no. I now have a HLSD transmission but no TCS. Have fun withy the swap if I would have devoted more time and not messed up the ECU would have been 3 days. But oh well live and learn I know for next time

Ok. So you never had TCS? Gotcha.

It's been a potential issue bugging me in the back of my head.

I don't care for TCS, it does nothing but kill the joy for me, but there are other issues I'm afraid of.... Anywho for another time.

I havent heard of any previously auto cars swapping to manual and keeping TCS. If you switch to a manual ECU you will lose TCS, it also might be disabled if you keep the auto ecu because of the codes. If you have ABS issues after the swap, I bet it wouldnt work either. Good thing really, the TCS blows for this car, nowhere near a real TCS system

I dont care for keeping TCS.

That's not what bugs me.

What bugs me is the ABS unit being on the CAN and using different signals than non TCS A33s.

Not something as contrite as keeping TCS while being manual when the main function of TCS is upshifting

Also TCS is highly functional, I really have no idea where you get your ideas from, can't think of to many cars that can pull themselves out of mud w/ stock all season tires.

We're really getting off of the path, I only simply wanted to know if the OP's car had TCS, which it doesn't. So I will stop the derailment of this thread.

Didn't you swap clusters? That wouldn't matter... All you'd have to do is check for the switch being present in your car, but I doubt you have TCS it's a rare feature for Maximas, and standard feature on I35s.

JK man I am mostly certain I do not have it in the car and never have, but I do know one thing the car is much more of a beat with the 6MT then it was with the slush box

getting out of mud is about tires, weight, tire RPM, and clearance. TCS doesnt have much to do with it.

A real, good TCS has a high sampling rate and much more functionality than the TCS in our cars, it constantly works to allow the engine to provide more and more power to the wheels without spinning, more like what you see on the expensive ECUs like Motec.

When I had the G35, there very first thing after start up was hitting the TCS button. My wife asked me what that button was, I told her its the fun button, unless you push it you're not having fun!

2500 miles later and the only issues I can come up with is: wind noise from where I cut a larger firewall hole I forgot to seal which isn't that big a deal but its on the fix list, clutch doesn't feel perfect might have to upgrade and the free STS mod that was already done on the trans when I installed is usually okay but when it wants to be a pain it will, my mustang GT has a hurst STS in it and its sweet. Might have to get a accutualy STS kit for this thing cause its a real PITA to shift at times. Other then that all is well

it would be almost identical to the 6spd swap for a 4th gen and there are threads around for that.
