Got a cheap kit off ebay two months ago the blaas were bull**** plastic super small I ordered 6k n they look like 10 or 12k super blue I wanted white. Anyways high pressure water destroyed ballast my homeboy gave me one off a cadillac it was a big silver normal one well now that bulb is super white looks great n other is blue as hell.


Why is this?

when it comes to hid kits you gotta pay to play.cheap just wont do.

 

eBay hid kits are not good enough for the trash.

It is because there is not juice from your ebay ballast to reach the bulb wattage to give you the most lumen availble. In a standard bulb, the more wattage you pump in, the "yellower" you get. So if you have 6000K real color with 35W, when you go to 40W, the color wouls shift to 5500K or so. This is normal. Bulb like CBI, is design to have 5000K color with more lumen/same than the 4300K OEM ones at tripple the price.

Or, you have defective bulb/old. Look at old TL/BMW from early 2000 with stock HID, their color is very blue sometimes purple or pink, that's the indication that there is not enough arc and salt inside to burn. When you drive this with higher wattage ballast, you get the some of the lumen back and whiter color, but not going to be reliable since you basically overheat the buls.

Like other folks say, you get what you pay for. Save money and get OEM bulbs and ballast. There is no shortcut when it comes to HID bulbs and Ballasts.

 

When are people going to learn aftermarket HID with cheap bulbs are CRAP!and if you got a 02-03 the only reason to get HID is for the matching fog effect.and if you need to replace your factory HID bulbs only quality bulbs are going to look right.and as far as hid kits the only ones i trust are the philips kits and morimitos from TRS .

 

Oh and just to add some insulut to the cheap hid buyers if your not hid equiped now your wiring is not able to handle the requirements of the ballast in 60% of the apps and its best if you use a relay but go ahead dont listen to me as your kit flickers and suffers from mismatched output.

 

This first time I had cheap HID kit. Didnt expect them to be this ****y. Ill be replacing entire setup though.
