5th Gen: What did you do to your 5th Gen today?
#1681
Agreed. R2C filters are excellent, I'd put them #1 overall, followed by Amsoil and AEM.
But, you can also buy 2 comparable AEM's for the price of 1 R2C. They are expensive, and I'd say would provide most benefit in forced induction motors, not as much for an N/A Maxima.
Also, I really like the AEM material for how clean it remains, because it pretty much never gets dirty for me and I've seen tons of sand and dust this winter. Id think the R2C mesh on top of the filter element might make it harder to keep clean long term?
My AEM 6" vel. stack flows well, you can hear it just sucking air even sitting at idle.

replaced the air duct into the throttle body, noticed it was starting to crack last week when i was putting it back on after installing a ground so i decided to buy a new one. i didn't notice how bad the old one was until i took it off today, rubber was cracked completely through right below where the clamp goes.
all the foam? gaskets and **** that go around the snorkel, at the elbow below the snorkel and the telescoping piece into the air box were pretty deteriorated. bought some weather stripping at lowes to try and re-do it and get some more solid connections
before:
after:
the telescoping piece felt real solid when i got it back in place, hopefully this keeps it still because it never seems to be in the right place when i look under the hood. elbow into the bottom of the snorkel felt solid too. i'm 95% sure the piece on the front of the snorkel will fall off shortly
halfassed wiped everything down in the air box area, installed new (OEM!) bolts because i snapped one a while back and just figured replace all of them. the new bolts were shorter than the old ones
lastly i put a new o-ring on the camshaft sensor and cleaned up the area. i was leaking oil from there so it seemed like the logical thing to do.

definitely was stiff. it's amazing how much easier the new softer one slides on/off the tb compared to the old one. i guess that's what happens after 15 years.
another project i found is the coolant overflow tank thing showing it's age. the top plastic on that is all dried up and cracked through. i remember reading another member on here replacing theirs recently and i'm sure i'll be doing it before too long

The pcv valve was the original one needless to say the hose snapped tryna change it,also the hose that goes from one valve cover to another also snapped...

haha great, i might be looking at doing that in the near future too. i have a little bit of leaking on the front side, it would probably be a good idea to endure the headache that goes along with the back too just to get it done and not have to worry about it

The rest was price of cake
Took 3 hrs charged $100...

I hit 175 km/h on the 401 after playing about with someone on a bike on the 401. Obviously bike guy won but what a rush :|
The car took forever to slow down and it almost felt like the car couldn't take the sharp turn off the highway (I think I was going 130 km/h and the sign said 40 km/h) but the car finally turned, lot of groaning from the rear, was using two hands to move wheel)... I thought I was heading straight to the barrier and going to crash ><
Meanwhile in the background Aqua Like a Robot was playing *BOOm BOOOM*

An exhaust fell off a beater Honda on the highway. Boy does that make my **** boil...
So I see this exhaust rolling and bouncing into my lane...
Was able to avoid it with 90% of my car, still ran over the muffler with rear driver side wheel. Lucky as I was, I hit it perfectly on the muffler which just got squished and absorbed all the impact. No damage to car, wheel or tire, thankfully.

^^ Duralast is pretty good. I've had mine for 3yrs now. I'll probably change to an Optima red top before next winter. Duralast seems to last 3-5yrs no problem though.
Oh yeah, I was lol...
It took a good few hours for me to come down. People say it's not healthy to be so angry for that long, but I just couldn't help it lol
Still just happy as **** that did zero damage, besides having to clean some nasty rust off the tire.

The third day I had my car someone threw a brick out of their car on the highway. It hit the ground and my Max got nailed by brick chunks down the drivers side... Nailed the fog light but not even a scratch on that!

Some people deserve to be shot with a crossbow and have their hands removed so they can no longer operate anything or throw anything.
I would have followed that person from a distance and made sure they got seen by the 5.0....throwing projectile missle at vehicles on the hwy is a serious felony

Now that, is just ****ing retarded.. Reading that made me mad, and it didnt even happen to me! Lol

I live in a nice, secluded neighborhood..
Washing the oem 17s to show to a fellow orger who wanted to purchase..
Set them in the front yard to dry...
Went in to watch some college basketball...
Came back out at the half and someone stole them.

I filled up my car with gas ($76.01) and calculated my fuel economy.... 14.7MPG What the F**K, this is with extremely light driving, I would get less than 5MPG if I drove it hard!
Won't be using Shell again, I need to figure out what the heck is wrong with my car. Help.

Well my neighbor said she saw a beater pickup truck with all kinds of junk in the back pick them up... my guess is that its a guy collecting curbside scrap and getting $$ for it.
They weren't anywhere near the curb though..so the scumbag doesnt care obviously. Ill be making a phone call to the local recycler tomorrow morning asking them to keep a lookout. Otherwise ill be on the lookout for him.
#1717
^^ That's ridiculous, you don't go on someones damn yard and take stuff, that is clearly not trash. That is also tresspassing on private property.
This is why I keep a camera in front/back of house. And I live in a nice secluded neighborhood, too.
