More pictures were requested, so here they are! Washed it again today (there was some dust, so that calls for a full wash ) and gave the interior a quick dust

Before I get destroyed, I know it needs to be lowered a little bit! Ideally lowered on G35 coupe rims, few exterior mods, and then call it finished.

Thanks! I can't afford to lower it right now, if I did I just want it lowered a bit, nothing too extreme. Needs to be practical, the roads here aren't great and there are speed bumps everywhere.

I might be listing it soon... (local Vancouver, BC members pm me if interested) I kind of want a truck so I can start up a mobile Auto/Marine detailing business.

I've been very busy with my maxima. Three weeks ago I busted a tie rod end. Ordered front pads and rotors because I knew they were getting close. Figured I'd kill two birds with one stone. Got under there and found the ball joints were shot too. Went ahead and ordered new lower control arms, figured it'd be easier than pressing in new ball joints. Busted an end link getting it apart so I replaced those too. In for an alignment and everything is wonderful.

A week later my ABS light comes on. Code is for a right rear wheel sensor. Ordered a new one and got to work. Snapped off the mounting bolt right away and had to drill that out, but not too bad. Unfortunately while I was under there I noticed my inner pad on the passenger side was nearly gone and there was lovely score around my rotor. They were only a year old so got new ones under warranty. Found a seized piston to be the culprit so slapped on some new calipers. Bled the system and good to go.

Three days later I'm leaving work and my car won't start. No big deal, I get a jump and take off. Didn't get very far before it died. Alternator. Great. So I replaced the alternator and the serpentine belts (I'm nothing if not thorough), went ahead and replaced the battery too. It was six years old anyway.

So now that my credit card cries itself to sleep at night, I'm hoping my max will return to the reliable car she's always been.

tl;dr
My Maxima has really been a pain in my wallet lately.

I think it's that time where everything just falls apart.
At about 200,000 it started to basically require every maintenance item to be replaced.
Common things that fail have never failed until recently.

Now my steering pump is leaking.
After that I need to take the tranny out to replace the seal. I think after that it'll be good for another 15 years though

Today...its not what i did. Its what i missed.

After sunset; i go to close the living room curtains and give my Max one last look of love for the night...GASP! My front stillen lip was missing!!
I had just "temporarily" placed it on about 4 days ago. It was NOT bolted down yet...fault. It fits snug as you stillen lip owners know.

I surely do not believe it fell off and i drove over it and didint notice. Some bastard had the nerve to walk on my property and yank my ****...
Whomever may have it; this is what i have to say to you
I hope you end up in a ditch and the only thing that survives is my lip. so mad right now. .......End of rant.

This makes me mad for you! Sorry for the bad luck. I simply don't understand why some people do the things they do sometimes. People don't give a **** about other people and other people's stuff and it's downright sad.

Today I looked to tame down the horrifying level of noise emanating from my recently installed OBX headers. I discovered that the front bank was resting on top of the front lower motor mount bracket, so I ground down a recess with my angle grinder. When I took apart the front header collector flange, I noticed that there was black soot like material staining the bottom of the gasket, so I made sure to tighten the daylights out of that flange when it went back together.

Once the headers initially went on, I had a pretty severe vibration feeling and noise underfoot. I discovered that my Carltonator resonator was touching the connector bracket on my Truax subframe connectors. I ground the bracket down a bit so that it was no longer rubbing on the resonator, and now there are no more vibrations from this area, and the overall exhaust sound has quieted down remarkably, most likely due to no more leaks on the front connector flange. I did notice some vibration as soon as I had my subframe connectors welded in, but it wasn't too bad so I just ignored it. However, once I installed the headers I theorize that the increased exhaust velocity amplified the vibrations to levels that I couldn't ignore anymore.

While I was working on the back I also removed a piece of bracing from the underside of the car, as I figured that this piece could possibly be rubbing against the Carltonator. However, now the resonator seems to be banging against the subframe connector bracket when I drive over bumps, and it has introduced a pretty severe amount of rattling. The rattling sounds like something tinny, perhaps a heatshield. I will be reconnecting the brace I removed to see if that clears up the rattle sound.

And today came time for the fuel filter. It wasn't as bad as I thought, but definitely took a lot longer than I imagined.

Love this forum, however with the aging cars, it's starting to become a scarce place. :/

Over the last few days I did some looking around to try and remove the heats hield rattle sound. I pushed back the heat shield around the Carltonator, which reduced the rattling but didn't fully remove it. I did some tinkering around with my NWP torque mount, and found that pulling the engine forward instead of backward like I usually have it greatly reduced the rattling, and it was only present when deceleraing, instead of while accelerating. I pulled the engine forward a tiny bit more and now the rattling is completely eliminated.

Now my concern is whether or not having the engine pulled forward like this will place any extra stresses on the OBX header set, time will tell. The headers sound great now that I repaired one leak and removed the rattling, and only slightly louder than the previous precat/y pipe installation.

The Bose CD player in my Max is dying. This is a replacement head unit and I decided not to get another 15 year old used head unit.

So I bought a Kenwood double din radio, model DPX501BT. Also bought a PAC ROEM NIS-2 line level adaptor. Have received the stuff but I haven't put it in yet.

But I may have screwed myself by buying the PAC ROEM unit from e-bay. The item description said new, opened box. Looking at it, it was previously installed. The ends of the wire harness that has to to soldered to the Kenwood harness have been cut, they are all different lengths. I called PAC and asked about this and they say the wires on their harness are all the same length. There are also scratches on the plastic case of the unit that look like the guy may have opened it up.

I guess I should talk to ebay about this before I try to install it. I would hate to do all that soldering and then find out the unit is dead. The joys of being a cheap azz.

Dennis, why dont you just connect the ign wire to see if it turns on. Just do a temporary connection before anything permanent. Cant go wrong doing that... unless it doesn't work at all.

I wish it was that easy. I'm talking about the PAC ROEN NIS2 unit, not the radio. The PAC ROEM unit has to have a dozen wires connected to the radio. But then, that is assuming that I am correct.

I did talk to ebay and they say that since the product's condition was not accurate, I can get a no-hassle refund. But I'll be an optimist and take the chance and hook it up, believing it to be good.

I wired up the radio and the PAC ROEM units and it works. But I forgot to get an antenna adaptor, so I put the Bose back in and ordered an antenna adaptor.
