Loose E-brake

My 01 maxima's E-brake is pretty loose. It works fine when it is fully engaged but if I ever was to need it in an emergency situation my car would definitely not come to a stop quick enough. How can I go about making it stiffer so that it engages quicker? There's a way to decrease the slack in the cable correct?

You'll have to adjust your brakes.

When u pull ur ebrake up you will see a small hole on the bottom of the ebrake the hole is facing towards to front of the car. Its a 10mm nut inside and you can tighten that to tighten the ebrake cable
