Advance timing with android phone?
If it means anything, when I pair it with the phone it says paired but not connected. Apparently that's normal, but it's all I've ever been able to get it to say, how about everyone else?
Paired but not connected is normal in the phone BT menu. Now when you open car gauge
Goto the menu then
Go to preferences then
Bluetooth device permissions
And select the dongle that currently plugged into the car.
At that point go back to the dashboard of car gauge and hit the menu hit connect
Select Nissan
Then Ecu,
At that point a portal confirmation pops up hit yes and you should be all set.
Have you tried using other apps like dashcommand or torque? Try those to see if you get any connection at all, maybe youhave a problem with the plug on the car
Goto the menu then

Bluetooth device permissions

I first had the lite version of CGP, and had the same problem. I will try some others tomorrow, but I know my OBDII port works because I used my scanner today.
After that, I would try the LG troubleshooting steps: http://support.sprint.com/support/ar...e_542_GKB49750

The whole time I've been trying, there were no other bt devices paired with the phone and it doesn't have pandora.
Ill go through that trouble shoot tonite, it's my gf's phone so I won't have access to it till later. Thanks for that.
Anyone have the contact info for Isaac?
I looked but can't find it.

One of these days I'm starting a how to thread and closing this bi7ch.
As far as Isaac, post your issue here:

So I finally got this app working with the dongle I bought, I guess it was the phone.
That said I tried the timing advance and I'm not sure if it worked, the timing jumps all over the place when driving... I've seen it go as high as 30.
At idle, it bounces around from 14 to 17.

I went out and tried again, after it was warmed up it idled between 690-715 and timing stayed between 16-17.
During driving, it ranged from-6 to 41.
Is this normal?
Also, the idle air relearn wouldn't work.
It kept saying not completed... Not sure what's going on there, but the timing advance seems to have stuck.
This app is pretty damn cool, I was like a kid on Christmas haha.

Ok I'll try again tomorrow, I had it running when I tried...
Does anyone know if you can check for SRS codes, my light is on and the key sequence I used to reset it only keeps it off very shortly.

Btw, if you haven't seen the other thread... Isaac is working on getting fuel adjustment for us. Well, the injector pulse test with a save feature to be exact. This will allow us to adjust +- 25% if he can get it working. Stop over at the scantech board and comment on the thread to show some support.

Hey guys, I'm having trouble with this Car gauge pro app.
I can connect and do everything in torque free, but I keep getting the error "negative or no response from ecu" with the car gauge pro app.
I have switched elm devices, tried in two different makes of cars, still to no avail.
I have a samsung tab3 7.0 -- This has been the only constant in my testing, could it be a setting in the software that i'm missing?

Good find, think I spent like 14 for mine.

doesn't work with the 4th gen ECU..it won't "save" the new timing settings if it connects at all.
It's in this thread, I believe I asked. Because I wanted to do this on my 99
^^ speaking of the timing advance functions.
I do have a simple Bluetooth elm327 adapter and use a couple apps to monitor the car's systems status

Pretty much sucks but I guess as long as I can connect and advance periodically when I want to it's not ssooo bad. Like I said the dongle will be here tomorrow so it doesn't hurt to try.

Having same ecu connection problems
So I purchased both dongles suggested here and bought a nexus 7 Android tablet.
I can pair with the dongle and when connecting with Car Gauge Pro it says device connection OK but then, connect ecu > timeout no response. An error pops up:
java.io.IOException: read failed, socket might closed, read ret: -1
I have found this error on the net with people using Android 4.0 and newer. I was hoping the 4.4 update would fix it but no beans.
Torque pro works with both dongles so I believe the issue is with Android 4.0+ or Car Gauge Pro. I also tried with a Samsung S3, same error. Also same error regardless of vehicle. Isaac hasn't been able to help. He suggested obdlink mx which is 150$ but I doubt that's going to change anything. Anyone with the issues find a fix?

Thanks but I have a 5th Gen max, 2003 GLE in Canada.
I've also tried on a number of different cars with same error
Devise connect OK. Connect to ecu>... time out and Java error...
I have a GLE and from what I've read the base line timing is set to -1. The SE is a base of 0 which would explain the slight difference I notice in throttle response driving my friends se. I can not wait to get car gauge to connect to my ecu. I want to make use of 94 octane!

I know mine didn't work with Car Gauge Pro, and i'm running Android 4.1.2 on a Galaxy Tab 3
Wish this app/elm device worked with iphones, most people I know don't have android anything :/
If this doesn't go through I hope I can get my money back. No reason to support a product that doesn't work with the latest software.

Last resort Obdlink mx
I was told I could be reimbursed for the apps I've bought by Isaac. But what I want is to get this working! I ordered the Obdlink mx for $190 delivered and I am praying it works. The mx sold me on its upgradeable firmware. It's also the fastest and most comprehensive, from what I read.
So what started as a cheap way to increase timing, has become 2 Chinese dongles at $30 each, a Android tablet at $240, now $180 on Obdlink mx. If I didn't already have a good scan tool this setup would make sense.
However, I am really liking the functions of Torque. It's great to have a knock test, and the other real time tests. Looking forward to testing 1/4 mile. Right after I advance the timing!!

Is he responding to his email? I haven't heard anything back from this guy through email or through his website. I'd love to get this app to work with the car, especially with the 08 altima swap i've got-- I KNOW this motor has more in it.
This is his response. I don't really know what it means?
"I need $15000 to join a membership to access these information ☺. This route is the easiest solution to the obtain the data. If the app makes substantial amount of money, then I will take this route to expand the app."

I sent him another email, if he's responding to your emails and not to mine, that's messed up. It still shows he hasn't logged onto his forums for almost a month.
I really do want this to work, but if this is the support the developer is going to give maybe i'll have to go a different route.
