Hey does anyone know if our Maxima's or any Nissan Products are vunerable to this recent wave of high tech crime?

I dont think our 5.5's are high tech enough to even be affected by such crimes.

the 7th gens could be susceptible to it...basically anything that has that "smart key" feature could technically be affected.

I'm surprised wireless systems have been effective as long as they have. I mean, wasnt all this addresses in "Gone In 60 Seconds"?

I'm simple when it comes to stuff like this, don't know how it works, only that codes "rotate." But if me and my wife decide on a code for her to let me in the house and I speak it out loud (transmit it), then how does she or I know what the next code is going to be? I'd assume there is an algarythm we would go by? Well, then if someone heard my passcode (intercepted my transmission) then with the right equipment could guess my next passcode accurately.

To me it seems even easier with those chip thingys that give off a specific radio signal that when close to the car the doors will open and car start. It's only a matter of time. I'm sure even the first key maker thought he was soooo smart till that first person picked his lock. Sounds like same thing here.

I don't feel any safer with these systems. Just a little different kind of lock.

I remember once I was leaving Walmart and was going to my Dodge Ram where i thought I parked it, seen a black Cummins with 35"s so I was sure it was mine. Hit the unlock button on my OEM fob and it unlocked the doors... I opened the door and immeditely noticed something was off...

Different interior color and cloth seats and what not. I looked at the truck closer and laughed, was not my truck. I shut the doors and pressed the lock button and it locked, and I lingered around for a minute to tell the owner what our keyfobs do but he/she never came out. So I left.

Ordered a new alarm off ebay same night.. lol crazy experience for sure

they weren't stealing the cars it didn't look like, they were burglarizing them. Our maxs are definitely susceptible to this with the right equipment, and probably easier than the cars in the video.

Little secret Directed used a 12 digit hex transmit code that skips the progression change by 4 everytime you arm/disarm so the reciever "remembers the last good code and knows to look in the chain for a code that matches the x4 pattern. More clear brudder

Don't write off out 5th gens that quickly. A couple of days ago, I was leaving my office and there was only one other car parked a few stalls away. I hit the fob to unlock my car and the alarm on the other car goes off. I laughed it off as a funny coincidence and almost subconsciously, I hit the button on my fob again - the alarm on the other car shut off immediately...
