ever since i took out my stillen intake, i can hear the valves knock alittle when i accelerate. If i'm climbing a slight incline (between 40-70mph), the car will downshift a gear then the noise starts. I'll left of the gas pedal and it will go away. This never happened prior to the intake and i'm concerned. When the intake was in it seemed that i lost a lot of power and now that it is out i'm experiencing this problem!!

Try resetting ecu for an hour or overnight. Don't know past that.

 

yeah, i tried the ecu reset but i didn't help any. the car is still under warranty but i'm concerned that they might say something cause of the y-pipe being there. the bottom of the pipe states:

not for street use, or something to this effect.

i guess if they dont lift the car up i'll be ok but not sure if that will void my warranty?!

Is it a "pinging" sound when you go up hill?

It could be a couple things bad gas or a bad coil, but I'd guess you missed something when you reinstalled the MAF sensor. Check for air leaks in the stock intake tract especially around the MAF. That rubber collar is a pain in the a$$ to get in right, so make sure you made a proper seal.

Another guess is to make sure the MAF hot wire didn't get oily from the K&N filter. Sometimes people over oil the filter which travels up the intake and gets on the MAF wire causing problems. I'm not sure if it would cause your type of problems, but it might be worth checking.

 

When I installed my Intake I heard a whistling sound anytime I would accelerate. What is that? I made sure everything was on tight. Is the '00 and '02 maxima intake different??? I had an '00 gle and it worked fine then when I installed to my '02 it made that whistling sound.

 

Call nissan & talk to service if they dont know & have to check it.....then I dont know if they'll screw you since you got an aftermarket y-pipe?

 

I have a 2k Maxima SE Automagic I bought the STILLEN Hi-Flow Intake and after my fren finished installed it, i also heard a whistling noise... its the intake sucking air in...according to my fren who knows his p's & q's on cars. i like how it sounds, especially when im commin down the block, my Maxima sounds like cartman "Respect My Authori-TAY!"

 

Yeah..but it sounds like a whistling/squeeky sound. I was like "WHAT DA FUNK." So I put everything stock again. :[

 

Well i dont know alot about cars, half the things i do to my maxima, i do because i think it looks cool... but for sure, i have a couple frens who have intakes, and they all have that whistling noise... some have it in a higher pitch... i think thats the hon-duhs!
