2000 Se Ecu

OK, I posted before, asking if there is a way to remove the speed limiter on my 2000 GLE automatic, but I got no helpful response.

From what I've read, SE models don't have speed limiters. I was wondering if I could put a 2000 SE ECU in my GLE to get rid of the speed limiter. Is this possible?

Thanks
Daniel

ECUs are not easily swappable between even identical maximas.... so this would be difficult...

No its not possible. Your speed limiter on your GLE should be 131 MPH. Why do you need to go faster than that?

Darn, it can't be done? Is there any way to make my car keep going passed 130? I HATE MY SPEED LIMITER!!!

I need to go faster than 130, because I want to go open road racing in Nevada. I'm bored of only going 130. It's hardly a rush anymore. Is there a piggy back ECU or anything for the 5th gen max?

What's the pike video?

Thanks a lot for the replies.

Jet has a piggy back. Haltech e6k gives you a new ecu that you program your self. It takes awhile to program it cuz theres no base but worth it if you really wanna make some mods.

Will the piggy back make it so my car will not cut out at 130? What is the cost difference between that and the Haltech ecu and how hard is the haltech to program? I need to do some more research.

Thanks for the info

Well jet says they can get rid of it, it also remaps the ignition, and fuel. Jets goes for 400.

Haltech will tech some time to tune. But it's sick. It's 1145. But for that you get a complete new ECU. Software and harness'

there's a speed limiter on the 2k se's...

I've got the 16" ers and the throttle is cut at 138mph...

there's plenty of room in the tach.. but that's the limit..

I must have lucked out because I have the 16's also but I've pushed mine very close to redline in 5th and was doing 140+ on a couple of occasions.

Thanks for all your help.

The Haltech ECU sounds really sick, but I don't have that much cash to spend at the moment. I'll probably end up getting the Jet piggy back. If it improves performance and gets rid of my speed limiter then I'm happy.

thanks again.

Yup no prob. THe haltech is basically a race application but if you really wanna do some performacne at some point it's great if youve got the time/money to tune it. The jet's results are debatable. But they are a respectable company so i can't imagine they woun't do what they say.

Is that the thing that told you 284 hp? It looks like a bunch of gauges in one. Does it get rid of the s.l.? Or do anything other than moniter?

Huh? No, I went on a dyno to get 284, but you can use that to tell the hp (haven't tried it though).

Yeah, it's a bunch of stuff in one. Currently, I'm monitoring speed, rev, lateral G, and horizontal G. There are two more, voltage and something else.

Yeah, it gets rid of the speed limiter. It also does 0-X km, 0-X km/h, and X-X km/h.

How do you like the A'PEXi rev/speed meter GP? I sounds sweet. I think I will get that over the jet chip. What I really care about is the speed limiter removal, but does it improve the performance like the jet chip does?

Either way, it's cheaper and it does what I want.

Thanks a lot.

Nope, doesn't improve performance one bit (but removes the limiter).
