Only 2 things will turn the light on. The fluid level in the master cylinder is low or the parking brake handle is not all the way down.

As far as the noise goes, all I can do is guess. Check and see if the splash shield got bent and is rubbing on the rotor.

The fluid was low added fluid and the light went out. The rubbing was the shims which I adjusted and it is good. But I think pad are not disengaging when I release the brake side of the new caliper . I can smell a burning smell and there is a tremendous amount of heat coming off of it after i drive that I can feel just putting my hand next to the gaps in the rim. i don't have anything like that on the other side.
Also when I let the car coast I can feel a pull like the brakes are partially on.
Could this be caused by an insufficient bleeding? Any ideas.
Is there any way to know definitively if the brakes are rubbing?

for future reference, since your issues are related try keeping it to just a single thread.
To help you out a bit more, since you are having issues with the rear you can jack up the rear of the car and check yourself.

Did you check that the caliper slides freely on the guide pins? the pins have a tendency to rust/corrode and the caliper binds. If the brake pads don't wear evenly, the pins are bad.

See part # 44139 located in the center of this parts breakdown.
