Mines got 304k, still very quiet and a friend and I was thrown back into the seat when i stomped it on the highway earlier. Should i be expecting a rebuild soon?

I have one with ~ 315,000. No major repairs to engine or auto tranny.
I've read about others here with over 400,000. I wouldn't even be thinking about a rebuild if it's running well. Just make sure any oil leaks are fixed or the oil will kill your rubber suspension pieces.

I had 380 000 (kilometres) on mine and it ran like a swiss watch. I see no reason that engine would have EVER stopped running. Not one drop of oil lost between changes. it was amazing. Got rid of the car because of rust. Total shame. What a motor. I am now driving an '03 6spd. Nothing but headaches.

215k engine is GREAT, not a drop of oil burning, 7500 mile oil changes, but the trans on the other hand.... dont even get me started lol.

That rust is what will send these cars to the grave! Im battling rust on mines now, earlier i sprayed rust reformer on the rust, and than top coated and clear coated it. I didnt sand the loose paint nor did i mask anything off, so it doesnt look good lol. But it looks helluv lot better than the rust, im gonna get it properly repaired before summer.Originally Posted by Blassmasta

Ur having problems with ur trans? Mines good so far. But i dnt beat on my cars anymore. I destroyed my old 2003 gle by taking it up to the 135mph racing. Motor blew a piston through the cylinder wall! And that motor only had 220k miles! The vq35 is very quick, but i dnt think it can stand up to abuse like the vq30!Originally Posted by VQ35maxima=Beast

That sounds like it ran out of oil, but who knows. The blocks are very similar.Originally Posted by Roblee

I've seen a 22R do the same thing for no discernible reason.

Child, u are always so spot on with ur answers! Car had an oil leak which dripped on the alternator! Dip stick was nearly empty when i checked it AFTER. I really abused cars back then.uhOriginally Posted by Child_uv_KoRn

You said it. The rear rockers were so bad there wasn't even a place to put a jack if you wanted to. That was when I said bye-bye. Don't even get me started on the core support. It's tougher for chumps like us in the rust belt brother.Originally Posted by Roblee

But that engine ... They run so smooth it's almost eerie.

i Just gave away my 2000 Maxima to my son who is off to college this fall and it had 238,558 miles. The only major thing i had to do to it was replace the alternator and change out some coils and replace the belts. It has the original water pump, the original piston rings and original crank. I swear i want another VQ30DE because that motor is damn near bullet proof. It just won't die. He took it on a 1200 mile trip from Florida to Illinois without a single hiccup

Those engines were initially guaranteed for a million km, about 600000 mi, so anyone with a maxima can push it well beyond that as long as you do the bare minimum. Things back then were made to last because the logistics weren't so advanced that things can be replaced on a whim, so people paid for things that lasted.
Mine's 167k and the engine feels like it can do 10x that, but the body's got maybe another 3-4 years on her at most.
