momentary hesitation in 2k2 6 speed...

There have been other threads on this topic and I even responded to one, but I think I finally experienced the severity that others have and wrote about. With roughly 2200 miles on my 2k2 6 speed here is what I experienced: When accelerating aggressively and shifting from first to second, as I incresed acceleration just after shifting into second gear, it paused, or hesitated, almost just like an automatic would upon downshift and then just sped right up nicely, and no further sensations when shifting on up all the way to 6. Very unexpected, to say the least. When I'm more conscientious and apply gradual pressure to the throttle and don't just floor it, the "pause" or "hiccup" doesn't manifest itself.

Is this what some of you others have experienced? And if so, has anyone had the opportunity to address it with a, uhm, dealer?? I don't think it is anything "wrong" and I still want to attribute it to the drive by wire throttle control, but does that make sense? Thoughts anyone???

You might want to ask 2001+ owners of BMWs. They have drive by wire throttle as well. (The 323s, 330s, and M3s) I bet that has something to do with it. If you ask me, I'd rather have the old fashion setup. I am planning on purchasing an SE in February and I won't to keep a tab on the situation.

I don't think it's a throttle-by-wire issue as I've experienced this on several occassions on my 2K. It seemed to happen more on cold morning starts but was not consistent and has cleared up within the first 8k miles. Now, almost 2 years later, it hasn't happened since.

on contrary, the drive by wire is actually a faster system then the old setup. the reason for that is that the old system creates friction points that slow down/delay the pedal. driving by wire on the other hand has, for all purposes, 0 lag, so it's actually a better setup then the old system.

the only problem with the drive by wire is that if it brakes then it could cost some $$$ to fix it
