another one bites the dust?

Hi guys, Got the sad news my 2002 SE Majestic Blue 6 sp was totaled. I was hit from behind on the highway but didn't suffer what I thought to be heavy damage. In fact I drove it off the highway but had to have it towed to the shop I use only only due to the rear tires rubbing on the rear bumper. I'm trying to buy it back form the ins company to either resell it to a body man to straighten it out or as a last resort, part it out. I'll know more this week. For now I put an add in the 5th gen classifieds with all the goodies I had on the car if anyone is interested the whole car or an eventual part out.

Thanks Prophecy99! I'm fine, but it just sucks because I really loved driving this car and after putting almost $2K into fixing the radiator support this past spring, swapping in the HLSD and replacing the front axles and hubs I was ready to fix the rusting quarters this fall. The car really doesn't look that bad and I'm hoping someone who owns a bodyshop will scoop it up and get it back on the road, as I feel it has many more miles left in it! I'd post pics, but I've long since forgotten the procedure to do so. If anyone is interested in seeing the "after" and what it looked like with the K-sports and summer wheels on send me you email and I will send pics.
Good Luck guys!

Hey bro the same exact this just happened to me this past Wed. I was driving to work, somebody hit me from behind. Car is total, but at a yard. I had a blue 2k2 as well. Whats up with being the car back? How does that work? Is your car at a yard or home? Also, have they told you how much they giving you for it?

NYTooCooL- You have the option to buy the car back from the Ins co. if its totaled. They should provide you with a buy back if you ask for it. Most people don't. My car has way too much good stuff to just let it go to the junk yard. I had the car towed to the shop that does work for me. So its there now.

Fonz458 - you're not the only one! If I don't get any takers for the whole car, I will strip the good stuff and sell it. I also have the original 6sp, but it's a an open diff trans.

are you done on trying to get the car back and salvage it?

i am in same boat and very scared, i dumped alot into this (60k tune up at 190k) and tons of crap, driving great right now, but on paper and to insurance its almost guaranteed total loss at this point in any accident that may occur, fingers crossed and i keep praying.

Prophecy99- I'm definitely going to buy it back when I talk to the Ins. company tomorrow. I just can't believe this happened after I dumped a good chuck of money into it. The kicker is that the car that hit me was a 97 civic that barely looked damaged. The girl hit me and her bumper slid right underneath mine. She sustained some scratches on the top of her bumper and a bent license plate. Her air bags didn't even go off! My car definitely got the worst of it. If I didn't have the rust over the rear wheel wells, I would probably be fixing it and keep driving it. I really loved driving that car! It is just the right size and the power is great, the handling is awesome when I have the k-sports and summer wheels on, and rowing gears is just plane FUN!! I'm sooo gonna miss this car.

Enjoy it while you can, cause with the age and mileage, it doesn't take much to total it!
