How do I remove the "nut" on the transmission filter?

2002 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SE automatic.
. I was able to remove all bolts from the transmission filter except, that 1 darn nut. I keep loosening it but, all the nut does is, turn "with" the threaded stud. I am not concerned with damaging the filter because I am replacing it. I just don't want to damage the hole. Some Nissan's have the other nut up inside the transmission.I don't know if this is the same for my Nissan!. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.
