altenator replacement cost.

I just burned my altenator out after dripping oil on it while adding oil. Whats an average price I can expect to pay to replace it?

replacement remanufactured bosch units can be over $100 plus time and labor to replacement it when it dies a week later.

I took mine to a PROVEN and trusted local rebuilder and had it rebuilt AND UPGRADED to 118 amps to make double damn sure it works, especially if I upgrade any electronics later. I also have one of the better batteries money can buy. However I daily drive and rely on it to not strand me in the middle of nowhere.

A fair deal should cost you something $120 - $300 for parts, plus about 2 hours of labor at local rates.

You can try to do it yourself and get parts here https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...generator,2412 . There are many write-ups on how to replace an alternator, just search.

yah mine went out a few days ago, Ive gotten faster at removing it and putting it back in. Its easy to remove the hardest part is putting it back in and lining up the lower bolt holes that hold the bottom screw.

A Hitachi (OEM) reman with a full warranty is only $120. A new one directly from Nissan is only $240. They are 110 amps. A known and reputable rebuilder can build you a alt that will last a real long time but it's not possible to get much more out of the alt in the factory casing (as told to me by my rebuilder). Shop time is 1.5 according to All Data.

Bring your own part $120 (my dealer will install your part as long as it's OEM)+ labor of $140 (my local shop labor rate is $95) equals $260+

I just replaced mine myself (first time) and tensioner. It took me an hour and a half. I could probably do it now in 45 minutes.
