4th gen Calipers and Brakes on 5th gen, direct swap?

I have newish brakes on the totalled i30, and the brakes on my 2000 need replacing. If I transfer over the rotors, calipers and pads, will it 100% swap in? Or are the caliper mounting bolts of different size?

Front caliper bracket (aka torque member) to hub/steering knuckle bolts are a larger diameter on 2000 and newer. You could use metal reducing bushings in the knuckle to make the holes smaller. However, you'll be making a mistake since the 4th gen rotors have much less mass. They are thinner with the same diameter. You might overheat them. There's a reason why 2002's went to even larger brakes.

The rear is basically the same 95-03.

Just go with a 2004-2008 front brake setup and call it the day! The inboard rotor face of the 4th gen rotors will interfere with the steering knuckle...The 5th gen's brake warping issue is because they removed a damn near inch of inboard rotor face for clearance. The 2000-01 and 2002-03 front brakes rotors are inferior brakes don't waste your time dude!

The 00-01 is a much heavier car. Stock 00-01 brakes are underwhelming . I can't imagine using 95-99 brakes.

Thanks for the all the info. Won't be using the fronts, but like Jsutter said the rears are the same (and the aftermarket part numbers are identical for rear). Will just use those. Thanks again.

Would the 6th gens clear the stock 16″ wheels?

Not without grinding. I believe someone documented a mock up where they ground the caliper.

I have 6th gen brakes on my 4th gen with 5.5 gen 17" wheels. There isn't much room with those wheels.

Would not like to change wheels as I like the stocks. Had 17"' titanium ones (which were very nice looking) from the 2003 but sold them after got rid of the car. Perhaps there are some stock size aftermarket pads and rotors combination that will be an improvement? WIll do some research and see what I find.

I did Powerstop rotors and Hawk pads and it is a big improvement.
