Recently experienced CEL on Saturday, and took my 2002 Infiniti I30 into Autozone for their "Fix Finder". However the tech plugged my car to his code reader, and it was inconclusive; the vehicle was not shooting out any codes; he got an error on his end; the car is driving and moving fine, so I'm not sure where the service engine light is coming from. Any suggestions before I take her into a mechanic for more comprehensive survey. A little background, back in December, the light also came on, but popped p0720 code, and the issue was noticeable; has issues shifting from 1st to 2nd gear because transmission speed sensor was shot; replaced it, and back to smooth driving. This time is more baffling. Thanks in advance

Need to get a bluetooth/wireless OBD adapter, then you don't have to rely on them.

 

I don't trust autozone. Just to prove a point, a few years back I unplugged my IACV. That means a P0505 code. Took the car to my local autozone and they said I had a P0308 ( ! ) - bad coil on cylinder 8. I remained polite, thanked them and left.

 

so glad i finnaly bought my own code reader, it was like $15-$20 , i think the one i have can hide or remove the code as well just not reset /erase it, the ones that reset codes are $100+
