Eventual muffler replacement

Hi everyone. My 03 Maxima's muffler is showing signs of wear around the outlet portion of the piece (some dark rings forming where the outlets meet the muffler, most likely due to a series of weather elements and normal wear and tear). I've been considering an aftermarket exhaust system and not sure how to best approach this from an economical and performance standpoint. Should I go with a catback once the current muffler kicks the bucket? I would like to add a little rumble sound (not ricer-eque) and perhaps some performance boost. I know the 3.5 engine responds differently than the 3.0's, so I would like to maximize my money's worth -- price indifferent. Advice is very much welcomed! Thanks in advance!

I recommend this, I bought an SRS catback and after one winter the exhaust tips are rusting. That's after paying $400 .

Get some chrome tips and buy this and be done with it.

I figured it's best to find both parts since different manufacturers parts don't always match up. I ran into that issue on my 97.

Do they sound any different than stock?
