What is causing my stalling issue?

Replaced the harmonic balancer and crankshaft position sensor on my 2001 Maxima. Afterward the transmission started shifting funny and occasionally stalls. Any ideas what could be causing this issue?

I

Perhaps there is a bad connecton between the new sensor and the wiring harness.

did you guys have the same recall with CPS senors? if so then OP you need to replace all 3 OEM to be absolutely certain your sensors are corrected, only doing 1 is not a sure bet, and doing any with non OEM, you will waste your time.

My 2000 Maxima GLE had stalling issues at Idle when I was at a STOP Sign or STOP Light. Cleaning the Idle Air Control stuff didn't help and it was not until I went to the Salvage Yard when I found an identical Maxima arrived and only three (3) days at the Salvage yard and sure enough it was completely intact with wheels and tires. I opened the hood and ALL was there, nothing missing and I wasted no time and took the entire Air Intake parts, Air Box, MAS and Unbolted the Idle Control Valve (Electro-Mechanical) unit and came home and replaced ALL.

Needless to say, this solved my issue with my 2000 Maxima GLE with the 3.0 Liter Engine V-6 and it idles perfect and solid. I have to be careful when I take off as it has lots of power and feel my body go towards the seat cushion when I accelerate and watch everyone else in my rear view mirror!

It is my belief that the MAS gets faulty and coupled with an aged Idle Control Electro-Mechanical unit just causes issues with stalling at Idle.

Years back my friend replaced the bad 6 spark plugs and 2 faulty ignition coils in my Maxima and took me on a test drive in it. Upon seeing the new performance he said: "Now you can enjoy driving Maxima"!
