Stripped tensioner pulley bolt

Stripped tensioner pulley bolt

I was replacing my power steering belt and my main drive belt when the tensioner pulley belt stripped now i cant tighten the belt at all. How do i replace it ?

Get one from junkyard and swap it. It's three bolts.

looks like a stripped nut to me. get the nut off with a vice grip and get a new nut..

threads are always rusted and if you don't properly soak it...you strip em

At this point, you have to:

1. Soak the stripped nut with PB blaster, remove the nut with vice grip.
2. You need to decide to either just replace the nut from a used junk yard tensioner or replace the whole tensioner unit with a new one. Amazon sells tensioners for $25.

I go with a new tensioner if it was me. Crawling around in a junk yard to save $25 is not worth it IMO.

I would cut it and save the main mounting bracket. the tensioner idler kit comes with everything except mounting bracket.

I still have the one I replaced in my scrap bucket, it's still good, just dirty. i can send it out in a small flat rate box tonight, just cover the shipping. can reach me at uptownsamcv@gmail.com
