Nissan Maxima 2000 Gle V6 wont run or turn on unless i give it gas
I have been having this issue for about two weeks now. Everytime i try turning on my car it dies right after, (unless i press the gas pedal) and i quckly have to switch gears from Parking To Drive! but pressing the gas pedal is no use as my car shuts off again when it slows down, or i make a complete stop. I check MAF sensor and its clean as it can be. I also took a look at throttle body and it is very clean. This is driving me insane as i use my car daily for work. Any recommendations? I heard it can be IACV which i have not taken a look into yet, or bad spark plugs…? I must mention i get 3 codes popping up as well.
PO720 Output Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit.
P0100 Mass Or Volume Air flow circuit.
P0505 Idle Air control system.
By the way theres a hose that keeps getting disconnected while i drive, im not sure what its called but it goes straight to the air box, its rectangular. Ill post a picture of it if i can! Not sure if that can be the issue?

check resistance across the IAC terminals. it may be shorted and if it is the ecm is smoked. common problem on 00/01s
going to need a pic of the hose. if its between the filter and engine thats your p0100 and will contribute to stalling. it may also be the entire problem if the iac is not shorted out.
no help on the p0720. could be a simple speed sensor, could be more.

Oh dear. It sounds like what plagued me back in about 2014-2015. slvr2KSE5 said it first: Idle Air Control Valve took a dump and it will (and did) smoke the ECM (the car's main computer). You will have to fix both if that is the case. Car would similarly start but not keep running. You could drive it as long as you were on the gas at stop lights and such or otherwise always moving but otherwise no. What a total PITA it was.
Really can't be "bad spark plugs", they basically work or they don't but by all means check them out of course and replace as necessary.
Rectangular plastic piece that keeps coming off is simply an intake plenum that directs fresh air into the intake. It could be a "ram air" intake except it is not really exposed to direct airflow. Mine is loose too, flopping in the wind and I have not fixed it. Car runs fine but it IS 24 flippin' years old. You got to pick your battles LOL.
I suspect it may not stay connected because of worn or sagging motor mounts.
