Resetting 2K2 SE's ECM/computer?

Just a quick question... I know this is going to sound stupid to most of you. Does simply disconnecting the battery (negative wire) for 10 minutes reset the Maxima's computer??? Please advise, thanks.

I've heard it can take up to 8 hours. Typically unhooking the battery overnight will do the trick if your getting a bogus check engine lite. If it stays then you might need reprogramming by the dealer.

I'm actually not having a problem. It was just my understanding that you need to reset the computer every time you made a mod to the car's intake/exhaust.. etc. I just added a K&N air filter and would like for the engine to allow for the increased air flow. BTW, did anyone have problems fitting the K&N into the stock air box? Mine didn't exactly fit too well, I had to position it JUST right.

Did you put in the sponge spacers into the airbox. If you don't use them then the filter has a tendancy to not fit and fall out when putting back into place. I put the K&N in my car and didn't reset the ECU. All reseting does is enable the ECU to learn the mod faster.

Thanks. I don't think I'll bother resetting it then if it will just take longer for the computer to "learn" that it's there.

It wasn't that the spacing was too great, it was that it barely fit when I put it in. I have to sqeeze it in just right and push down really hard to allow to clips to snap into place. It's just an extremely tight seal (as it appears).
