Ok i'll answer you question with a question. Can you beat a stock 2k1 Maxima 5spd? If the answer is yes; then yes you probably could beat 2k2 w/auto or at least give it a run for it's money. If the answer is no then you are going to get wasted. As for the 2k2 6spd; for get about it; you'll get blown away easily. Hope this helps to answer your question, but if you do meet up with a 2k2 auto or 6spd run him or her and tell us what happens. Also from one automagic to another good luck

A 2k/2k1 5 speed can beat an auto 2k2. If you can beat the 5 speed, then you should be able to beat the 2k2. I hope that helps

 

i raced QUANSUNG on the highway and he has intake, catback, y-pipe and i was stock and well from any speed, 20-80, 70-130 it was all me by a good margin.

really? that's news to me--what does the 5 sp. run the 1/4 in? i thought the 5 sp. ran 14.7 or 14.8 i don't doubt that it could happen but i am skepticle

I ran my bog stock 2000 4 speed last week and managed a 14.75@94.9 (2.30). The best time Ive seen posted for a stock 2002 6 speed is around 14.3-14.4.

A decent indicator hwy roll-on ability is quarter-mile trap speeds. Stock '01 automatics do about 87-88mph. Stock '02 automatics do 94-95mph (and 6-speeds are faster yet). To pair the 6-8mph trap speed difference you need tremendous amounts of work. You could get there by a full street cylinder head porting job, a mild street cam, remapped shiftpoints, and a built trans with high stall (drag launch only, not highway roll-on as you stated) lockup torque convertor. A peaky centrifugal blower making 6-7psi boost with a fairly high stall torque convertor can do that. Or a positive displacement blower (nobody makes one yet) with 4.5 psi non-intercooled boost with stock stall speed torque convertor can also do the job. No matter which way you go, you have to build up that automatic transmission to handle the output.
