Need help before I break it!

I am trying to remove the plastic interior cover that surrounds the gear shift lever and contains the hazard flasher, ash tray, and power port. Can someone tell me the proper way to remove this without breaking it? Anyone have instructions or pictures?

Thanks.

sorry, I am at work and can't take pics

to remove the plastic trim around the radio/ac/shifter unit on the 2K1 Max Manual transmission (i dont know if auto is the same)

1. remove the ashtray, if you still have the gray felt cover inside, slide that out first, then you will need a philips head screwdriver to take out the one screw that holds the ashtray inside

2. once you do that you will be able to pop out the side clips on the trim, the ash tray is the only part screwed in and after that you should have no problem

as you pull the trim, DO IT SLOWLY and do one side at a time
the trim is one big piece

i think that is all that it takes.....I've done it twice.... but it's been awhile since I did...JUST DON'T BREAK THE TRIM!!!

good luck and be gentle

Automatic.

Not replacing anything just trying to eliminate a noise coming from that area. But, by going in there I may create more noises than I eliminate.
