Does anyone know where you can get a Homelink receiver or adapter to turn on/off home lights?

I can't use the Homelink Tranceiver in my Max to operate my garage door because the opener was made before 1982!! But, I would like to find something to use with the Homelink Tranceiver. I tried to search for anything about Homelink on the web and found nothing!

I looked at Lowe's (home-improvement store) thinking that they would have something and they have never even heard of Homelink!

I am assuming that it would be something that you plug into the wall socket and then you plug an appliance (you want to control from your car) into that.

Thanks

Did you try Homelink's website: http://www.homelink.com (from the owner's manual).

I looked for some information about using the homelink to open a security gate at my apt complex. They have a FAQ.

[snipped]

johnhat mentioned x10.com... there's also

http://www.smarthome.com (check out their red hot deals section).

At a minimum you need a receiver and a module to control whatever you're looking to automate. Oh, you'll also need at least one remote so you can teach the Homelink unit in the Max.

You can sometimes pickup the IBM Home Connect (?) receiver module from smarthome for < $10. It comes with a lamp module and 6-in-1 remote I think. The IBM, RCA, and X10 systems are all x10-based so are pretty interchangable.

I use the homelink to buzz open the side gate or turn on the front lights. Works great.
