street racers are stupid

and about the street racers...

but hey, i like street racers... they are a perfect example of darwins theory in working harmony. Street racers kill themselves (and sometimes take out others that are involved in the stupidity)...which means, less morons on the road!!

Street racers who die get no sympathy from me. Good riddens i say!

Looked at the Video. Some nice cars you passed there. Your car carries speed a lot better than some of the cars. Were the Vette, M3, and Viper drivers pushing it hard or were they inexperienced drivers. I find it hard to believe you passing a Z06 after seeing my friend's dad drive it at the track. I am willing to bet that he is a much better driver than those on the Video though.

As you say in your sig, you owned the drivers, not the cars. I did not have time to download the vid (would probably take 2 hours for my crappy connection), but congrats. Sounds like you know how to get the most out of your car, whereas many people do not. That is the only reason I can pass porsches and Cobras and BMW's and such at my track. That is also why I like to race more than a 1/4 mile at a time.

Very very true... in most cases, this is true. even though drag racing is largely dependant on what car is being driven, as opposed to road racing, it's largely dependant on who's doing the driving.

But you DO pull up to some ricer wanna-be that needs a humility lesson or a mustang that underestimates you... That is why a Max is so fun... The 'sleeper' surprise factor. And I agree, a 'red light' race rarely takes you more than 10-15 mph over the limit, unless you are a psycho. But those are more responsible than some azzhole that tailgates you at 6" because he thinks your car is 'in his way...'

Don't attack people for having fun in their cars, we all know (or at least should know) what is a fun fair little race and what is plain stupid.

More slow drivers not paying attention cause accidents than fast drivers who focus their attention and reflexes on the road because they take driving seriously. Take that statement to the bank.

Damn that's harsh! Hella funny, but harsh!

By the way, I thought this thread was for posting kills, not discussing how many kids were killed by street racers. I'm all for the freedom of speach, but geez!

So... you're suggesting that the average... or even just you... have the ability to completely slow your car down from 60+mph in a matter of seconds before, say... someone pulls out in front of you, giving you only 100' room?

Or even suggesting you are capable and well experienced in an emergency lane change in your highly modified and very capable suspension to avoid such a collision?

My experience is, the average street racer is about as well versed in emergency lane changes as the soccer mom in her explorer. The above average street racer is about as experienced as the soccer mom's husband in the minivan.

Also, the average street racer tends to not have a very well thought out suspension... meaning, half of them just have lowering springs and lack the proper dampers to dampen the lowered ride height, which translate into poor transitive response (which is vital in emergency lane changes)...

If anyone with a modified suspension gets a chance to test their slalom speeds... please do so and record your highest speed...this truly tells how capable your vehicle is...now think about the average moronic street racer.

Street racing is dumb. 95% of street racers are morons. end of story.

Why are 5% of street racers not morons? Just curious.

Also, to address your slalom remark, a high slalom speed does truly indicate how capable your vehicle is, at doing the slalom anyhow, but it is fairly useless for much else. There are countless small cars whose slalom speed will put to shame your average Vette or Porsche, but put those cars on a given track together and see how much that slalom speed helps. Small skinny car can excel in the slalom, but how many racetracks have you been to that mimic a slalom course? It is much the same with skidpad numbers. They simply show how well that car can drive in a circle, but not much else.

Now, I need to qualify my comments by saying that I am not implying that a given car with a 70 mph slalom and a .98 skidpad is going to handle like a boat out of water, I am simply saying that taking one performance number and trying to equate that to the overall superiority of a said car's handling prowess is naive.

Right. I don't street race. I'm not a STREET RACER.

Yes... and No. Slalom also shows how well the suspension is capable of keeping the tyres doing what they are suppose to do... grip. A slalom is a FAR better indicator of which vehicle is better at, say, an emergency lane change.

I could be wrong, but, doesn't Willow have a slalom in it? SMMP does. LVMS's road course and lemans course does.

True, and it's a good thing i only related it to what an average moronic street racer is going to encounter... having to avoid an accident, and will probably swerve to avoid.

Because some of us actually have common sense. Some of us actually know when it is safe to speed and when not to. Granted, there are people that are danagerous and don't belong behind the wheel. It is unacceptable and irresponsible to street race down a busy express way when you are endangering other people's lives. Are they morons? Maybe. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, even if it's wrong.
As I said before, this thread was started for Maxima owners to post their kills, not to debate the morality or legality of racing.
EF9, your subtle insult displays your facade of intelligence. Ignoring the fact that this thread is for fun shows your arrogance. By the way, do you even own a maxima?

I say put driver A (who sucks) in a car with a superior slalom speed versus driver B (who excels) in a car with an inferior slalom speed and have them run through an accident avoidance course. Who wins? It all comes down to driver skill, as is the case in so many automotive contests. Granted, take driver A and put him in the inferior car and things get even uglier, but I think you get my point. Also, many of the cars that you see putting down such stellar slalom speeds are driven by near professionals, experienced with driving high capability vehicles at 10/10ths. The same car in the hands of a less experienced driver will serve him no better than his poorly damped, too stiffly sprung unbalanced Honda (to an extent anyway). Anyway, I am not arguing with you, just agreeing in a differnent light. You said it yourself, the slalom is a better indicator of which VEHICLE is better at a lane change, not the driver, so I digress.

Not a slalom as tight and with as many turns as the average cone course set up for purposes of magazine testing. You will never run into a road or course like that (at least not any I am familar with).
