BigDogJonx's, IceY2K1 and Y2KevSe...MAKE MY TRUNK RELEASE QUITER!!

I was looking into it and seems simple enough, but I need your guys help. The most annoying thing for me is the LOUD *** CLANK the trunk release makes when you auto release with the remote.

I looked at the mechanism and there is one contact point that needs a little dampening. If you all (or anyone else) have a solution to quiteting downt the clank that would be great.

Its a minor fix but I also wonder if the 2K2 makes as much noise and if not, what did they use to quite it down?

Peace.

Dr.Omed.HID#4.

P.S. Just sold my last pair of 2k2 headlights for 830 shipped and wires included.
Oh Well.

take a firm rubber grommet or washer and fit it around the push tab on the trunk (not the hammer thing inside the bumper). make sure it isn't too thick, altho you have a bit of room to work with. i used an old elastomer from a mountain bike suspension fork that i didn't need and shaved it down and drilled out the middle. heat it up with a hair dryer and it becomes malleable. it only stays soft for about ten seconds then it's too cool to form so make sure you get it on there fast. once it cools down, it's not goin anywhere.
this got rid of the big thunk when the trunk opens but it's still loud since the elastomer i used was too stiff. i'll be replacing it with a stiff foam instead to see if i can't make it any quieter and look a bit more professional.

Ghetto: Go to Home Depot and get some weather stripping.

Nice way: Follow serin's directions.
