Buying a 2002 SE....pricing question

Alright, I'm looking to buy a 2002 SE this next week.

I wanted to get the following options:
6 speed
Leather
Moonroof
Bose Audio w/o Navigation
Floor Mats

The dealer I was looking at has 2 there with those options, plus:
Side airbags
Meridian Edition
Body Colored Splash Guards

I was wondering what price I should aim for. The info I have right now is, after incentives & rebates and before negotiating is:
MSRP - 30,332
Invoice - 27,197

Their asking price - $26,795

That includes the $1000 Nissan rebate.

So how much lower can I go? Cause I know I can't afford 26,795 right now unless they give me a lot more for my trade in then I expect

I have a 98 Accord EX V6 Coupe w/ 60k miles on it. I was expecting $11,000 for it, does anyone think I might get more?

What should I am for?

Thanks

My dealer told me $100 over invoice, no hassles. Then my option of 3.9% or $1,000 cash. Only problems is they only have two loaded SE's with leather. One is the burgandy with navi and the other is black witout navi. The burgandy actually isn't a bad color but I still prefer the sterling.

I know of a dealership with a no hassle $300 below invoice, and $1,000 cash back or 3.9%. SO I guess you can do better.

I wanted to aim for 24,000 to 24,500. I dunno if it'll be possible, but it would be nice.

Anyone think that's possible? What about 25,000, if not?

crusader, one piece of advice given that i was just recenty in your situation but ended up with I35 instead. 30,332 i believe is the msrp for a 6 speed loaded minus the HLSD, as the HLSD is a $399 option that pushes the price to 30,731. i'm not positive but check it out. you should opt for the hlsd, vs. a 6 without, especially if you are in the northeast/inclement weather states.

price

In Dec 01, I got my 02SE (maj. blue, with frost int.) with all the options you list for $27.8K but that was before the $1k back. The only way you are going to truly know if you get the best deal is to call/visit other dealers. Pricing is always timing based. You might get someone eager or in a unique position. The HLSD is an option I might seriously consider. I was willing to forego it as I live in CA. I was also a little worried about the reliability of HLSD (I didn't realize that Nissan offered this previously). My tires do slip in the rain but it doesn't rain that often. Hope this helps.

That is a good price

I think you are gettig a pretty good price.

I just picked up my 2002 SE with 6spd, Bose, Leather, Sunroof, and floor mats (Sunlit sand with tan leather) for $26,212 with 3.9% finance for 5 years.

That is $1000 under KBB invoice.

Your deal looks about as good depending on the finance deal they give you.

Buy It!

Alright, here is what they offered me today, really close to what i wanted to pay, and i think they'll go the extra little bit.

I am trading in my 98 Accord EX V6 Coupe.
Buying a 2002 Maxima SE w/
6 speed
Leather
Bose
Sunroof
Meridian Package
Side Air Bags
Floor Mats
Body Color Splash Guards

MSRP Is 30,300

they are offering my car plus $13,888 before the rebate & tax
I want 13,000 before rebate & tax.

I told them to call me if they can offer 13,000, and not to bother if they can't.
I think they want to sell it to me, though. Only disappointment is the car has 400 miles on it, cause it was transferred from another dealer.

Good Luck!

Good Luck and hold tight.

I think Nissan dealers are real anxious to move their 2002 Maximas.

I have had mine 2 weeks (~400 miles now) and love it. The shifter is a little clunky (as some have noted here) but the car is wonderful.

It is quite a big change from my '95 GXE (which was great also).

If you buy the Nissan Extended Warranty (84mos/100K carryover), let me know what you pay.

Thanks,
Robert

Don't Trade in Your Car

Hi,

I think you have a good handle on how much you'll be paying for your Max., based on the posts here. But seriously consider trying to sell your car on your own. You'll gain thousands (not hundreds, THOUSANDS) by selling on your own. Your mileage is good for a '98 and as long as it's in good condition, Kelly Blue Book says you'll command $15K+ for your car (I don't know what other options you have in the car, so I went "middle-of-the-road" trying to figure out your resale value).

Let us know how you make out.

Price drop on Maxima

Hi,
Bought my maxima out the door including all junk charges, destination charges, etc, etc for $200 under invoice. Be careful of add ons they will give you a price then try to tack on to it. Also don't buy their extended warranty, or paint protection. You can get the extended warranty on line for cheaper. Last week I was emailed from my dealer that they were selling the new Maximas for $2000 under invoice. I called him today and he said yepper (this is in Northern Virginia). So dealers are dropping price to make way for the 2003's apparently.

Also negotiate the trade in and the purchase as two separate deals.

BTW they also gave me a free oil change, yeeehaa.

Also get the limited slip differential...
